@CautionKid3 I'm a med school washout-study hard (persevere through the tough times), be confident, assertive, cautious, stay alert and attentive (coffee helps) through long sometimes boring hours and most of all don't get grossed out easily by body fluids, open body parts, nasty sights, smells or rattled by noises (screams of pain) etc.
@5959512 the lack of oxygen in a certain region of the heart massively disturbes the way heart-impulses are generated and conducted. This makes the heart contract uncoordinatedly (-> venticular fibrillation), a state which is interrupted by defibrillation (administering shocks to the patient) as they did in the vid.
the first 3 seconds made me wonder... she kept askign how ya doing but wouldnt give the person a chance to answer and kept whiping her mouth... is there a reason she did that?
@OneHawaiianHaoleChic yeah, she was trying to make a quick judgement at her level of conciousness, as to why she was wiping her mouth, that's probably because there was either vomitus or some saliva around her mouth.
Hey Saosinjg, I'm a advance care paramedic... Lidocaine can be use for many different reason depending on the concetration and forms. It is use for Ventricular arythmia but is also use as a short acting anesthetic.
Okay, here's my issue with the video from my short 3 years in premed and ~130 hours in a trauma 1 hospital. At around the 5:30 mark, the narrator claims the EMT gave the woman lidocane to stimulate electrical impulses to stabilize the pt and allow for breathing...Yet lidocaine is an inhibitor and is used to paralyze a patient usually to insert an airway conventionally. Please Advise?
Incredible how they are able to be so calm...! "oookay... clear? Yep. Clear. Okidoky." *ZAP!!*

The calcium channels are rapidly inactivated, soon after they open.

They're run through pumps that maintain constant volumetric flow.
