What reallly sucks is that I can't find Van Morrison playing my favorite VAM song here on Youtube.....just a bunch of covers....BUT i am pleased to see warren haynes singing it!!!
I'm fairly certain that you can thank van morrison's representatives for that. Within a couple hours of posting this video, I received an email threatening legal action if I didn't post a RR disclaimer in my video discription.. Regardless, I'm still a big Van Morrison fan.
We just worked the ABB Wide Spread Panic show last month. We could tell you but then we'd have to kill ya lol : )
Actually the guy doing it started with the Jefferson Airplane in the early 60's. It's evolved but basically a camera mounted over a image projection system shining through a plate of oils manipulated by hand in real time with a concave or lens shaped glass. Video faders can move other images in and out in real time as well. A genius he is I tell ya!
Technique developed by Glenn McKay of the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco(circa mid 60s) one of the greatest "light shows" ever.
Big "clock lenses" ...take two of them, put them on an overhead projector...take some mineral oil, add a pinch of witch hazel and then some different food coloring and there you have it. Still one of the best "live" concert visual effects there is....
@duncanengler saw the original crew operate at a show they'd been invited at in SF around 1995. It was awesome. Nothing comes close to that technique in my book. I like the light shows and all that, but it was something else!
Damn!, Derek's slide sounds so awesome in this!! I saw him in a bar playing with the band Allgood once (St.Simons Island Ga.1990) he was probably 8 or 9 yrs. old- -the guitar practically swallowed him--and his slide playing was just as smooth back then--he is a natural.
DO MORE . . . FEELS GOOD!!!!!!!!
