Not much different than his dad tho. You can hear the genes come thru in his great voice. Jr's only problem in his career seems to be that he is his fathers son. He is a tremendous singer, in his own right..His father was always proud of him. and he has done it "His Way"
Such a tragic case. The son, given great dedication to the craft, yet without that touch of genius bestowedon the father -- and yet determined to devote himself to being the ultimate wannabe.
@johntechwriter I think your comment is B.S. Jr is no wannabe. He has a great talent, and he is using it. What do you think he should do, work for the Dept. of Sanitation? What did you do with your talent in your lifetime? Did you ever live up to your potential? Probably not..Jr. has. Get it, idiot, this is their "Families Business" singing.
Poor JR he can NOT sing a LICK! Completely non musical. Yes, He DOES have much of his father's voice...but sings OUT OF TUNE, mostly flat. NO interpretation.....like a wedding singer. Give it up Frank JR
This is as close as it gets folks. Thank God he was unscathed in the kidnapping years ago otherwise Frank would've gone into the tank alng with the entire Sinatra clan. His Ratpack partner Dean, lost Jr in the plane crash and that was when Dean really turned to the bottle.Judy Garland left us Liza, and Frank left us JR., we should consider ourselves blessed.
He sings beautiful. His voice is almost just like his dads but smoother with more vibrato.I saw him in person many years ago and enjoyed his show and wish I could again. His singing was perfection. Jo
I like him because he's different than his dad BUT I like that every now and then you can hear his dad in him....it's kind of like a reminiscant sound of blue eyes.....
Frank Jr. is such a great tribute to his dad's music. I've seen him live and can't wait to see him again. He doesn't live in is father's shadow but he casts that shadow even further by his tribute to Sr. I promise all of you the Charman made it to heavan and looks down upon Frank Jr. with much pride and that great Sinatra smile on his face from ear to ear. SALUTE Frank Jr., for your tribute to your beloved father! May our Lord continue to bless you with many years of good health.
"low frequency howl". I've always tried to give Frank Jr. the benefit of the doubt, but he's just a hack. He could have done something original in music but chose not to. Everytime I hear him whine about "low frequency" I want to punch him in the face.
@angelogiacobbe Well, all he's doing is copying the phrasing and style of a much better singer. If anyone's carrying on the tradition of this kind of music, it's Tony Bennett.
he ruined the timing on this song... it's a classic. if you're going to change it, change it. also, one thing you don't do is state problems at international shows. the show must go on. don't complain mid song about low frequency noises. he does have his dad's voice though.
@FurryLittleManPeach - From the description of the video and all the people walking around on the stage during the performance, along with Frank Jr.'s comments, and lack of any applause, It appears that this is a soundcheck.
@jasonpchesney After listening to a lot of Sinatra, his son doesn't compare to me. Yeah it really does seem like a soundcheck though. it's good for a soundcheck, but still... the words aren't in time with the band. for the original song.
Who really cares whether he rides his dad's coat tails or not! The fact is, he never made it big on his own and now that he's older and looks and sounds a lot like his dad, he's found his nich in life, impersonating him! Good for him! Shit, I wish I had that same opportunity. If you don't like what he does, well just DON'T listen to him! He's a big boy, he won't mind!
Im 15, and I have seen Frank Sinatra Jr play two times. He is amazing at what he does, Hes also a very close person to me and my family when hes not on the stage. Frank Sinatra was great too, Personally I think Jr is better!
That he isn't the same as his father, we get it but he is still a great singer and his father would be wonderfully proud to see him singing this song. because thats the point of the song, we all live life different and in the end all that matters is that you do it your way
i will agree he is not his father. but when i listen i keep getting glimpses of frank. his phrasing his tonality. i cant explain it! frank is in there! i think his father wud be proud.
I think anyone who feels like saying a bad word should think hard about whether they should say it. This man is a fantastic musician and I would love to see them do any f***ing better, he has a wonderful voice and people who can't hear that need to get their ears checked because there is something wrong if they think he "stinks".
Wow! you are really on top of things> Boy you sure have me pegged> Man, I guess I underestimated Jr's hugh, intelligent, clever, hip, fan.And maybe you could send jr a message on what a gooood speller your are.
wow you guys are terrible. he sounds good. sure, he's not his father, but his voice is better than half the shit they're putting out now. you can tell this is frank sinatra's son.
Oh please, at least he is nice and clean looking. And he tries to be professional, unlike some of these others who ride on daddy's coattails. Give the man a break.
On May 14 2008 died in New York. So the date given here of July 31 2008 can not be true or it is not Sinatra even though this recording very much sounds like him! Also the temper of demanding a change in frequency response would fit him.
He sounds very much like his father. Listen to the "Chicago" duet he does with him. Although there will only be one Frank Sinatra, the junior version is a good entertainer.
It's amazing to compare versions. Frank always sounded as if he was somehow winging it through his phrasing, while his son offers a smooth yet unexciting rendition. You feel like he's reciting the lyric instead of living it.
Let's face it. As a singer, performer, etc. Frank Jr. is INCREDIBLY boring. Even if you're not comparing him to dear ol' dad, he still sounds like some lousy cruise ship singer who isn't getting paid enough, and henceforth, half-asses it all the way. Even when he was younger, his phrasing and voice itself were dull and plain.
The apple has not fallen far from the tree my friend and for you to comment as you have is not only unjust and unkind but down right untrue the semantics of you comment could have been taken from any to bit weekly from the top or bottom shelve of any corner newsagent.
Not much different than his dad tho. You can hear the genes come thru in his great voice. Jr's only problem in his career seems to be that he is his fathers son. He is a tremendous singer, in his own right..His father was always proud of him. and he has done it "His Way"
