My guess is unemployment tends to be lower in the tea party than in the general populus, primarily due to the fact that they want to keep more of the money they earned through employment. How are they morally bankrupt? I can care about my neighbor, without being coerced through government to pay for his services. i will pay for those services necessary to function gov't, but not b/c another politican has an ideology.

No it hasn't. Free-market capitalism works incredibly well. Socialism does not. End of debate. As for this current crises, that was not free-market capitalism. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, quasi-government institutions, completely perverted the banking and financial industry's incentives, and thus led to them lending out mortgages they otherwise never would have. They only lent them out b/c Fannie and Freddie said they'd buy them up. Otherwise, no bank would have done such a thing.

@brio1924 I wish you would explain why. Polls show that McCain was almost tied with Obama until Sept 2008 when the financial crisis hit - effectively blaming all people's troubles on Republicans. The bigger answer is why did Obama not win in a bigger landslide.... that is the more telling question.

they're trying to undo what bush did by pushing a trillion dollar spending bill, expanding the government more than the new deal did?

all Obama is doing is continuing the old policy which wasn't bush, but was the democratic congress run by polosi, who wrote part of the new stimulus bill along with harry reed and the rest of her cohorts.

this is only to beginning, all this spending will deflate the value of the dollar then we may see some extreme inflation in the near future.

Funny how people manage to call Obama a socialist as well as a liberal, since both are each other's opposites. By the way, Krauthammer refers to Europe's social democrats and social democrats (Labour, Tony Blair etc.) aren't the same as socialists.

Everyone's throwing the word "socialism" around. You know what? I don't care WHAT you call the economy, as long as it works for most Americans. And right now, it is not working. This isn't an ideological battle, it's a practical one. Giant corporate bureaucracies are no better than government bureaucracies- I don't want either ruling my life, frankly. The CEOs class had 28 years of dominance, & all they did is erode our rights and our standard of living for their own benefit. Time for change.

No, it isnt socialism. Its not about balls, its about knowing what socialism actually is (not what happened in the USSR). Socialists see the world in terms of class. There are owners of capital & the laborers who actually create the wealth that gets funneled to the owners via profit.

If Obama were a socialist, hed want the ownership class abolished. His largest donor wouldnt be Goldman Sachs. He wouldnt cut the capital gains tax.

Raising the highest tax frm36 to 39% is nowhere near socialism.
