I use to bartend barback at the Button on the Beach in Ft Lauderdale. Spent a lot of time after hours at our sister club..Loved thisd place till it got rid of the rock scene.
I used to come watch them every time they played at the Button South from Wednesday Night through Saturday Night. I didn't care for Race much, thought Mark ruined the songs they played. They were at their best when Scotty was playing guitar. They had so many good original songs I wish were on video. I know the video exist because they used to tape the shows quite a bit. Seen a guy get his ass beat by Bruce (the bouncer) where the camera is in this video. Too bad it wasn't Mars Cowling.
I was there when you recorded this, Pedro was cool, Mars is a complete ass hole. I seen him in 1980 at the sportatorium with Pat Travers and Ted Nugent. i told him I seen the show and his comment was: "Yea i was there." Needless to say I never spoke to him again. This was before you girls had Scotty on guitar. Nice to relive the 80s at Button South.
I saw Gypsy Queen play live several times when they were in the Tampa Bay area between Oct. 1985-Oct. 1988.
Watching the twin-synchronized motions of Paula & Pam to the strains of mid-'80s heavy metal, even nearly a quarter-century later, is still nothing short of awesome.
Gypsy Queen was that "awesome impact" kind of band. Thanks for unearthing that. Gypsy Queen are on MySpace; I wonder if Paula & Pam know about this?
I used to work for The Bobby Friss Band back in the 80's and got the tape from someone at the Button and it just happened to have the Gypsy Queen set on it also. Good luck for me. Those are the only Button bands I have.
