IRIE4IPIER, you are very very wrong, Droid is running on a ARM® Cortex A8 3430 clock at 550mhz, basicly the same processor on the 3GS, the G1 is a Qualcomm MSM7201A ARM11 clock at 528mhz, comparing them would be like comparing apples and oranges, or a Core 2 running at 3ghz to a Pentium 4 running at 3ghz... Which one is faster?
Looks slow but it doesnt help that he didnt even give the phone time to fully boot. My g1 takes about 30 seconds after hitting the desktop screen and connecting to the network to be fully booted, if you start using it before its done it makes it run slower for a couple min cause its diverting cpu and memory away from the start up sequence.
idk.. i love android.. but i'm not a fan of that keyboard layout! the keys look really flat, like theres not much tactile feel to them.. i guess i'll just wait for the 'droid 2' or something next year..
It's most definitely non-final software. Eclair lags like this on the G1/Magic as well, yet the OMAP processor on this thing is two times faster. Look at some of the new Motorola Droid videos.
your wrong, the processor is only 550, where the g1 and mt3g are 528. so i do not understand the "droid does" commercials because this phone is pretty much has the same processing speed as the g1. i fucking love android but it needs to have a faster processor and more RAM memory. this phone will be an epic fail because stupid ass verizon compared it the the iphone 3gs. thats just stupid. it would've been comparable if it had the snapdrogon, but it dont.
As the developer of a prominent CPU clocking application on Android, I can safely say that the ARM Cortex architecture processor used by the Droid/Sholes is up to two times faster per clock cycle than the ARM11 processor used in previous Android phones. The 550MHz processor used in the Droid will perform similarly to a G1 clocked probably over 1GHz (if you could clock a G1 that high).
That said, clock speed is far from a reliable indicator of a processor's real world performance. Consider desktop processors. A 3GHz Pentium D is much slower than a 3GHz Core 2 Duo - yet they run at the same clock speed and each have only two cores.
android is progressing so quickly, i cant wait for android MID or phone with Nvidia Tegra chip. this phone will do so well. especially on verision, i dont like CDMA but i would choose this over anything else CDMA has to offer.
At the moment only the Acer Liquid has got a faster CPU, the 1GHz SnapDragon CPU (that runs on 728MHz, not on his full 1024MHz btw) But this Moto Droid has got his own GPU: PowerVR SGX 530 GPU
It has got an OMAP3430 ARM Cortex A8 that runs on 550MHz and it is based on the ARMv7 core, so it's more than twice as fast as the Qualcomms that are based on the ARMv6 core and run on 528MHz =)
Well this version has multi touch, so the US version should as well. And I agree this one isn't running smooth like the videos I've saw. Must not be a final build.
I'm hoping that the device has to warm up or something. And even though the phone comes out Nov. 6 in the states, I don't think the Droid is primetime yet and will have some kind of update on the day of release.
What a piece of shit! Once again, another failed attempt at copying the iPhone!

Not responsive at all what a shame. Hope it's better when released.

Since when has Android been able to do the pinch-zooming? I thought Apple would throw a hissyfit about that.

Just like I've said it the first time in this thread, don't copy me!
I have one question left: Has it got a enlightened keyboard?

copy what?

Yes, there is a backlit keyboard.

no your hero is not faster, the guy didnt let it load fully, every phone will lag like that if its not loaded all the way.

Ugh, really laggy. My Magic with MyHero is much faster.

because its not the real droid on verison, and plus its only a test product because its a gsm version which is a first....

Lots of lag on the scrolling suggest a poorly optimised graphics driver solution.

please remember this is a gsm version remember he never let the page load fully before he started to pinch zoom

this isn't the final version for one. and its gsm so obviously the cdma version will be faster once its out.

I have a couple of questions:
1. This is a GMS version of the Droid?
2. This Droid had got silver accents?
(the pictures on Boygeniusreport had shown golden accents)
3. This wasn't the final ROM (I hope)?
4. Do you know a release date?

I like the keyboard. If it just wasn't looking like a cheap 80s toy... is there a rule that Android devices (esp. with keyboard) need to be ugly?

The interface looks not smooth at all, as if it is lacking hardware acceleration.
Or is it normally faster?
