I actually really like this video. In a lot of photoshop makeovers the person get's completely altered, to a point where it's more a barbie doll animation than an actual person. Here, there are some adjustments with the lighting, makeup and dark circles etc. Minor imperfections, that mostly could have been dealt with with concealer and more/less lighting. I don't think it's really that unreal that people need to make a fuss over natural beauty and bad self-image. But that's just my opinion.

I'm creating a new video game, with Photo-Shop, i used the Same idea as Rockstar Games , as they used in L.A Noire. (Face-Picture-Animation) i'm finding some random people, and take a pciture of them 1000x (pixels i think) and go home and animate that, now i just need something to make the person move :)

I think the point wasn't to show how to "perfect" people using photoshop, I think the point was to show us so that when we hear about how pictures in magazines aren't real, we don't just roll our eyes but know exactly how normal-beautiful women are made to look "perfect" ...but that's just my interpretation, and also because this was apparently(?) part of Ms. Magazine Blog, and Ms. Magazine is a feminist-focused magazine.

But "perfecting" them... that sends a ridiculously bad message to the person in the photo, and hurts our perception of what beauty is.

photo editing is fine, to an extent. All of these pictures would have been much better if they had stopped a few steps before the finished product.

The first photo was great by 0:35

The next one by 0:51

The third one was a great picture by 1:08

the fourth was fine at 1:30

and well, the last one was creepy as soon as the editor started touching it.

What I'm saying is, post production editing is fine as long as it is only used to make the PHOTOGRAPH better. People don't need improving.

@ourlighthouse9 They hardly alter the way these people look at all. Small color corrections such as this should not be the issue. The purpose of this type of retouching is to enhance the visual quality without significantly reducing the realism. The real issue should be the photos that are presented as real, but are in fact not real at all. They are edited so heavily that it would be more appropriate to compare them to visual art that was once based on a photograph. There are examples abound.
