This is one of my favorite songs of all time (I'm 71) -- it should be listened to daily to remind us... it really IS later than we think... we think we're going to live forever. So, pay attention to the ticking clock -- that too is a reminder that the seconds are ticking off, never to return...
I recall watching Guy Lombardo on New Year's Eve in the late 1960's. It was immensely entertaining to watch the dancing crowd become progressively drunk while the trio gathered around a single microphone to sing "Enjoy Yourself". I was in my mid-teens then. This brings back those memories.
Cool song. Didn't realise it was so old, but who cares. Classic stuff will last time and eternal. The song also gives some good advice. Enjoy yourself, cause' we ain't around for long. Shine in your time.
My father had the 45 rpm version and I listened to this when I was a kid...now I am older than my father when he died...this song really makes you stop and think about things...
whats with all these teenies on music videos, which happen to be from a different generation, and declaring their love for previous generations music.
like its breaking news. oh Im 13 and i like the older music, really, well done you. heres a medal for good taste. youre special and not at all like the other tweenie boppers.
wanna-be consisseurs, mini- music snobs who like to think being young and appreciating something old lifts you above the tweenie crowd.
Did anyone catch the cover of this song in the campy 1996 movie, "Everyone Says I Love You," with Woody Allen, Alan Alda, Julia Roberts, Drew Barrymore, Goldie Hawn, Natalie Portman and Edward Norton?
@NadaTall Yes! That's where I first heard it, and didn't even realize it was a cover. Such a great tune. Dark humor mixed with what is actually a great message.
The original record (1949)........with a very nice version by Doris Day in 1950......"enjoy yourself.......while you're still in the pink...the years go by as quickly as a wink.....".
Although this song was created decades before I was born (heck, Guy Lombardo died more than a decade before I was born) I still love this song. Guess that shows how "evergreen" this song is.

If more people lived by the lyrics of this song, everyone's life would be a heck of a lot better.

GREAT version...1st heard on New Years probably 60s we get crappy bands now that probably pay to play the Chicago Way for exposure.
