mormon scholars defend the undefendable? well, all the defense they have given have made the book of abraham to be now the biggest support for smiths claims. Offcourse it's easy for this man to claim he kows what the 2 century bc - 1 century ad egyptian beliefs were, but that doesn't mean the egyptians of the abrahams era thought the same way, because tehy didn't, Thebackyardprofessor had a good video series called, joseph smith as an egyptologist, for example to give more light on the matter.

The Above work is Catholic and contains names similar to those given by Smith- Where he claims in the text that they should be found

If you actual had ever handled any of the books of the dead or of breathings you would know that they do not even all agree as to the exact order or meaning of any of the pictures The Egyptians were not as stale and predictable as THE EXPERTS make them out to be. If you knew anything about the funeral texts of Egypt you would know they were not about death but about life. Joseph Smith's interpretation of the Was or Wosret staff (Facsimile 2 Fig 3) is "Egyptological soundness". Joseph Smith said it represented power and authority. Much the same as Sir Alan Henderson Gardiner (one of the premier British Egyptologists of the early and mid-Twentieth century) who labeled it dominion or lordship. Gardiner is not Lds, and if he is not credible no one is.WORD!!!

It talks early on in the book of Mormon about Pure descendants of Lehi and that means that there were other non-Lehite natives in the Americas. Just because they weren't supposed to do something doesn't mean that they could not or did not.
