@MadTarnsman I've been to the local VFW, and most of the guys there say the same thing. They regret enlisting and would'nt do it again. They also discourage others from doing so. They aren't down on individual soldiers, but the military's attitude towards the individuals fighting and dying for their country. These guys are complaining to try to put the blame on someone besides themselves. The military gives everyone the opportunity to do what they want to do. You have to put in the work to get what you want out of it. I was in the Navy for 8 years. For those of you who disagree, you need to apply yourself just like in any other job. Lazy, unmotivated people end up cleaning shitters and washing dished. Its just a fact of life. The military will use you for their needs. Make yourself more useful!!

@MadTarnsman I've been to the local VFW, and most of the guys there say the same thing. They regret enlisting and would'nt do it again. They also discourage others from doing so. They aren't down on individual soldiers, but the military's attitude towards the individuals fighting and dying for their country. America's military men are cheated and repeatedly abused by their own country and it troubles veterans immensely.

@nkelly1432 the reason why america goes into other countries is because america feels obliged to make the world safe for democracy. That's one of the main reasons for ww1 and vietnam too. For ww1, America didn't want germany to take over the neighboring countries and for vietnam, they didn't want the communism to take over, but evidently it did. You can say America didn't gain freedom, but other countries gained democracy.
