Nihlus was great because he has the coolest armor in the game and the coolest Turian warpaint, as well as being a particularly smooth and calculating fellow. These traits basically sum the guy up: When the player thinks of a typical/ideal Spectre, they're supposed to visualise Nihlus.

I have an idea about Mass Effect 3--- there should be an awesome side quest or a dlc where Shepard could explore Nihlus' past, his life in general and as a spectre. Maybe even see flashbacks of him in gray color, what do anyone think?!

I LOVED Nihlus. From the first time I saw him, I was like "Man, this guy is awesome. I hope he's on my team." And then Saren pointed the gun, and then I heard the gunshot. I was crushed. I seriously cried out "NIHLUS, NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!"

@JonasAndBruce  yea,Nihlus was a cool Turian character. His rambo Mask explains much of it,Mass effect 0 would be nice =D. There will proably be a prequel,no worries pal.

I'm playing Mass Effect 2 right now and the justicar chick tells you about how she fought a Spectre named Nihlus for 2 weeks. apparently he killed an unarmed civilian in front of her. in order to end the battle, he did something that led to her having to decide to go after him, or save innocent lives, she chose saving the people(its part of her code) and he lived.....to later on get pwned by Saren.

really thought these 2 were the coolest turians in the game. :D

I saw the movie Platoon (1986) recently (spoilers) and it's obvious that Nihlus's death was inspired by that movie, the dialogue is similar even. Nihlus is asked by Shepard and his ground squad if he'll be coming with them, to which he replies: "No, I move faster on my own"... just like in the movie, Willem Dafoe says that and is killed shortly after by someone he trusted.
