Great job from the other 3 Bangles, they harmonize so well and their backing vocals sound strong, not like the muted production in the studio version where you could barely hear them. Debbi looks amazing, I think the bold makeup, platinum hair, and crimped strands was the best look for her.

Beautiful song. My only complaint is that Susanna bails on the high note ("flame") at the end of the song by going falsetto instead of punching it out. She typically did that when performing this song live. Oh, well... still extremely well done!

@ems8266 Agreed. I would've preferred it if she could go all out but she does tend to bail on the more powerful notes in live performances. One reason why I think Britta Phillips (cartoon vocals for Jem) was a better singer. She sounds so much like Hoffs it's eerie, but her delivery is stronger and she has greater range. A real shame her music was mostly forgettable and the cheesy cartoon songs feature some of her best performances. :P

Hoff's voice is limited; i's not what attracts me to this song. I am much more impressed with the entire "sound" of the Bangles and the musicianship that went into each of their numbers.

@2bin While I do love her voice, I would hesitate to call it truly unique as there ARE other people out there with light, treacly, candy voices. The obscure Britta Phillips is one of them (a.k.a. cartoon vocals for Jem)--so Sue-ish in fact that many children thought Susanna Hoffs sang her voice in the cartoon.

There are a lot of men from the generation previous who would vouch Agnetha Faltskog (the Swedish blonde of ABBA fame) is the sexiest woman to grace the earth. And then in the 80's half the men preferred Belinda Carlisle from the Go Go's to Hoffs. And THEN there are those who favor another member from each band, i.e. Michael Steele and Jane Wiedlin. Who can really say with any certainty? :P
