Millie strikes me as the type of person who's very nice and and gentle, and just wants to make friends, but she's not interesting or memorable enough to most people.
yep...that is Belita Moreno, who plays George Lopez's mother...but wow, her voice sure is different here than it is on the Lopez show! BIGTIME different!
55 a month - in 1976 is about what 200 in today´s money. So for one person to live in that appartment would be around 400 dollars. Hahah no way that would be today more like 1,500 bucks or something. I would not mind paying 400 bucks for a nice appartment and an access to a pool.
My boyfriend complained that he thought Pinky was very similar to Carrie - yes some of her manners are similar - Sissy Spacek made both films around the same time so she looked similar but that made me like the film even more.
@Gunnarsas yep she filmed Carrie in the summer of 76(May to July) then went straight from that to 3 Women-not sure of the length of that shoot but she was really busy that year
@thx291 It's interesting how when she turns nasty and unfair, things jump right back on her. I guess the skirt constantly in the car door is an indicator -- she will always lose. I live in Europe now and this movie is total Americana redux for me. 1977 was just about the worst year I knew there! Such a dark, hopeless time.
Duvall plays Millie Lammoreaux, who works as a therapist in a senior care center; Spacek plays Pinky Rose, who gets a job there and becomes Millie's roommate. Rule is Willie Hart, the pregnant wife of the building owner, who moves within a sad silence, holding herself apart from the others, and paints on the bottom of the pool godlike creatures, bizarre and fantastical men and women who menace one another.

I love how Shelly keeps on talking and nobody is hearing her

I know. How humiliating. Shelley's Millie takes it too far with her denial.
