I had the same thing around 6000. Had to change the knock sensor. It was good but not enough... i had to disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes. After that the ECU resets. And after it was good. (I had an 02 WRX)

Ok go see mecanic. Probably an ecu problems due to some sensor malfunction

If you can't rev past 4500 RPMS you're in limp mode.
