Since God shortened the days the end will even be sooner. So christianity has painted itself into a corner. If 1948 is the sign, the generation that witnesses that will be the last generation. So if we come to 2058, that will be beyond the generation and scripture will be broken. Since it was appointed to man 70 years at stated, it will be between 2010 - 2018. If the days were shortened would mean that the last few years are most likely not in view. It could be 2011 as Camping discovered.

@comeade science and God can co-exist, and i won't give some grand delusion of forcing the bible to work with every scientific model. However, God himself, if real, is not on the same plane of existence as You and I are, or science for that matter. If God exists then he and his laws govern all laws below him such as the laws of physics. Which brings us to the bible and.the supposed conflicts i.e. carbon dating and evolution etc. Which i can explain in another post here in a sec.

It is painfully clear that what remains to be known (standing on the shoulders of others before us) shall always outweigh what we "believe" we can bank on. We all have an unbridled, out of place faith in something, it's what drives us to experimentation (look at string theory, etc.). I've truly experimented in the realms of my faith, and yet it increases...

@comeade Although the bible says 6 day creation we have to remember that the sun was created in one of these days. So time was measured in days, atleast in part, before the earth revolved around the sun, and more specifically, before the earth rotated with night and day created by the sun. A day for God (the supreme governing force of all laws) could have made time slower or faster depending on how you look at it. @Awaken4God ; If we want to get picky about chronology, then your reasoning is still off. Why? because light (ie: the sun) was created AFTER. The whole "hocus pocus, let there be light" thing happened afterwards. Therefore, 'god' was fumbling around in the dark, in the beginning, which would explain why so much of creation is a mess. Just try to be happy with the natural world and not be searching for the supernatural.
@comeade God can see without light. What we see empirically or visually is just the outer shell of something much greater. I know it would be hard to understand a world without light or mass. But a God bound to the rules of mass and energy is not a god at all. God is the alpha and the omega, and we reside in his continuum. The Fig Tree represents the whole house of Israel. Not just the Jews. In fact, when YAHUSHUAH mentioned the Fig Tree in Mathew 24, it has no connection whatsoever to the Jews going home to Israel in 1948. He said the Jews will NEVER bear fruit again. It really would be illogical, would it not, for Him to say, "this generation" when referring to the current peope, and expect others to believe it means a generation that comes i the future. This would support the idea that what He meant was the partiach generation.

The history of Israel is Temple centred and focused. The 70 weeks of Daniel started with the decree to rebuild the 2nd Temple. Presently the Temple Mount is still occupied and is being trodden by the gentiles, therefore 1948 and the political revival of Israel has nothing to do with the 'budding of the fig tree'. When the 3rd temple will be built...that will trigger the budding of the fig tree and ' that this generation shall not pass away' and within 40 years Lord would return!

interesting, it does say they covered with fig leaves, but the actual fruit is not specified. there were many trees in the garden. if it was just that tree, it might not even be around. its still israel, but that could be an additional layer. when his branch is yet tender and putteth forth leaves...ie the holy spirit reproves the world of sin...

Since God shortened the days the end will even be sooner. So christianity has painted itself into a corner. If 1948 is the sign, the generation that witnesses that will be the last generation. So if we come to 2058, that will be beyond the generation and scripture will be broken. Since it was appointed to man 70 years at stated, it will be between 2010 - 2018. If the days were shortened would mean that the last few years are most likely not in view. It could be 2011 as Camping discovered.

It also comes from , heaven forbid, actually reading bible passages, not just the 'feel good' ones, and then using ones freethinking mind. But maybe your question "why" refers to something like, "why do you bother debating a creationist on youtube", and the same could be asked of the one who made the video.

@comeade science and God can co-exist, and i won't give some grand delusion of forcing the bible to work with every scientific model. However, God himself, if real, is not on the same plane of existence as You and I are, or science for that matter. If God exists then he and his laws govern all laws below him such as the laws of physics. Which brings us to the bible and.the supposed conflicts i.e. carbon dating and evolution etc. Which i can explain in another post here in a sec.

@comeade Ha HA! Humor is golden! My wife and I are both skeptics, "indoctrinated" into and choosing careers based on the scientific method. It is painfully clear that what remains to be known (standing on the shoulders of others before us) shall always outweigh what we "believe" we can bank on. We all have an unbridled, out of place faith in something, it's what drives us to experimentation (look at string theory, etc.). I've truly experimented in the realms of my faith, and yet it increases...

@comeade Agreed. What is this awful thing called religion everyone's talking about, anyway? The most important event in man's history and God gives Moses a single chapter-hysterical. Geology, the cosmos, biology, the fossil record, and checks and balances in science give credence to modern sci. views (evolut. etc.). But I can not be a humanist, and the good Lord will do away with errant religious viewpoint and uncalled for faith in humanity that keeps us all bound in "these bodies of death". ;)

@comeade Although the bible says 6 day creation we have to remember that the sun was created in one of these days. So time was measured in days, atleast in part, before the earth revolved around the sun, and more specifically, before the earth rotated with night and day created by the sun. A day for God (the supreme governing force of all laws) could have made time slower or faster depending on how you look at it. The whole "hocus pocus, let there be light" thing happened afterwards. Therefore, 'god' was fumbling around in the dark, in the beginning, which would explain why so much of creation is a mess. Just try to be happy with the natural world and not be searching for the supernatural.

@comeade God can see without light. What we see empirically or visually is just the outer shell of something much greater. I know it would be hard to understand a world without light or mass. But a God bound to the rules of mass and energy is not a god at all. God is the alpha and the omega, and we reside in his continuum. Creation sequence according to the bible does not prove or disprove anything.
Creation was not a mess, but a blessing instead its man's folly that has introduced disharmony.

When the two witnesses shut up Heaven so that it rains not in the days of their prophecy....the rain is the blessing of salvation, that's why they shut up Heaven, not the clouds. Many people think that the only definition of generation is a time period, but it was used in both the Old and New Testament on several occasions to mean type of people, not time period. We generally think of generation as time, but one of its common defintions meant people of similar qualities, which in case of how Jesus used it, people of evil qualities who refuse to believe the Messiah, which is still around today. Take Psalms 12:7 and Luke 16:8. Some versions translate generation to people.

It really would be illogical, would it not, for Him to say, "this generation" when referring to the current peope, and expect others to believe it means a generation that comes i the future. This would support the idea that what He meant was the partiach generation.

Intersting. However, it has been my understanding that when Jesus said, "this generation" he was referring to the fact that scripture dates itself by the current partriach, and Jesus being te last, meaning all who live after His birth are in the same "generation".

I can help clear this up. When generation is used, even in the Greek, it doesn't just mean a time reference, but generation's 2nd definition is "kind" or "people of same/similar qualities". Take Psalms 12:7 and see how it is used to refer to a type of people and not limited to a time frame. When put in context, generation is used in Matthew to mean those who refuse to believe the words of Christ, not EVERYONE sho is alive or of a certain age. That generation will not pass away until all is done
