Problem is, all the band members probably worn out all there old instruments and got new ones, but old Ian still trying to use the same old vocal cords. It didn't help that he was (is?) a smoker. He already started losing his voice in the 80s.
I was 15 when I started listening to Jethro Tull, I still listen to their old songs, guess the song is true. :)
@MuckyWaters OH fuck me, another 1 dragging smoking into things? Damn give it a rest? I smoke, yes I know??? Curse the day I lit 1? Find something else to crusade about?
@superunt43 I 'm not on any "crusade" , just stating an obvious factor why Ian's voice might not be what it use to be.
However, judging by your comment, it sure sounds like you have some sort of deep rooted emotional issue with your smoking addiction. Hope you can get a handle on it. Take care.
@MuckyWaters Not really, actually, maybe, my point was fuck off with the smoking thing? Why you bring smoking up over wonderful music here? Addiction, yes, admit this readily, 20 times worse than cocaine. Emotional issue? No. Physical issue, yes.
@superunt43 The not so wonderful singing is why I mentioned the smoking. The music is fine. You obviously have taken it very personally, that's an emotional issue, not a physical issue. Sorry if you can't handle it dude.
This man is both a legend and inspiration to millions!!!NO one ever sounded like Jethro Tull !There isnt a band in the past 30 years or so that can touch what this band did and continues to do!!
@rustbust2 In Fairness to Ian Anderson, the man has been performing for 40+ yrs, after re-performing the same songs over and over , your style of playing tends to become more relaxed . Therefore, it is only natural for any performer to change with time ! none of us are getting any younger :( But he still does one Hell of a job for all the years that he's been performing....... BRAVO IAN!!!!!!
Ian still's got it!!! Lord love him !!

The older Ian Anderson gets the smaller his acoustic guitar seems to get.
Weird.

Without a doubt.
This is an attack on an elite establishment that thinks they know what is best for everyone else.
I for one won't let someone else tell me what is best for me.
