Personally, this game is too fast watching it to tell who's good and who's not other than by watching health bars drop. I dunno. I feel like I'm okay but I haven't gone online yet.. I beat all my friends most of the time. :\
I'm just pretending this game never happened, because Gene isn't in it. Viewtiful Joe is, Amaterasu is, but not Gene. Goddamnit Capcom, why must you fail me time and again?
@DarkxDizi As much as I was disappointed by Capcom for neglecting one of my favorite characters from any game of theirs, it wasn't really a game breaker for me by any means. I was pissed, sure, but what we got was pretty good. Yeah, most of the characters I'm not particularly interested in, but it's a rather solid roster. Heck, I even found some new characters, or characters who I wouldn't expect to like, who I main as now.
@yeismeload Not a button masher by far. Everybody has very similar set ups for their special attacks, combos, hypers, etc. the universal structure makes the game more accessible and less frustrating in the long run, not a button masher though. The combo system is still very complex, enough that the advanced combos will tend to frustrate players without good precision, but as long as you have a decent grasp on how your character plays it's really fun; easy to pick up, but difficult to master.
More like, Why is this game so broken? Everyting they do, anyone does, gets your life bar half way down, and that only with normal attacks, like punching and kicking
@edgarchpa The whole idea is to not get hit. That's probably a majority of the skill in this game. Not to get hit so you won't find yourself utterly destroyed by your enemy. It's not broken because that's exactly how Capcom wants it to be.
Just as a tip for X-23 try using her quarter circle back and Medium for good cross ups. As far as going against any big character like Hulk or Sentinel I recommend pressuring then using a jump due to the fact that their hit boxes are larger and you can actually hit them when they are doing a crouching guard.
@thebored14 I try to never rely on my assists, but I don't think it ruins anything, it's a strategic thing and people who know how to use it use it well most times. Besides, it's a big risk; your assists can sometimes be killed in one combo because they take so much more damage if they get punished while assisting. It's a risk/reward type of thing, I don't use it very often because I haven't found a way for it to be useful for the way I play, but I see why it's an interesting feature.
@wingedswordslayer Well they do have his Japanese voice actor too... I mean, I dunno, I don't particularly mind the voices in this game, English or Japanese.
I was talking to somebody and had this video playing on mute, I unmuted it when I was done talking and the first thing I heard was Kyle screaming after losing the first match. It scared the crap out of me XD
This is why I don't play fighting games online.. People spam the same combo over and over and make you feel entirely inadequate due to them breaking the game.. With one combo. I feel your pain. :3
@Sephu It's not exactly breaking the game. The huge combos might seem like this game is all offense based, but that's what makes defense most important. Just because a player knows a combo that can take off 50% of someones health it means nothing if they can't score the first hit. That's why the best players know not only how to deal the best damage, but how to stop damage that the other player could throw out. Defense basically means don't get hit. Otherwise say goodbye to your team.
Freaking Dante. TOO MANY people pick him X[

Great MVC3 videos, you guys are entertaining. :)
I hate playing against Dante, huge range, speed and the fact that he is really easy to combo with makes him a major pain in the ass.

Is this game a total button masher or more to do with complex combos? Never played MVC so not familiar, but it looks really chaotic.

I'm pretty sure Taskmaster's counter works like this:
Heavy reflects projectiles, Medium counters high and mid attacks, light counters low and mid attacks.

Oh man, I'd love to fight against you guys. But I'm afraid my connection kind of sucks. And I main Hulk.

Rule of MvC3: Dante is used by like EVERY FREAKIN PERSON and he's completely overpowered.
