I saw 2 for sure cases of lions killing hippos in this video. If I recall that 3rd clip I saw on Nat Geo, or Animal Planet, I thought that hippo got away. Either way, looking at the vids, it becomes apparent that a hippo is pretty darn defenseless against a big cat on land like that. A hippo, like a crocodile, element is in the water. Weird, I have saw videos, years ago, of lions that find dead hippos and the lions couldn't chew through the hippos tough hide, hyenas ended up eating it.

@jps13party unless the Hippo catches the Lion completely off guard, it will never in a 100 years be able to catch and bite a Lion. The animal is so heavy and slow that compared to Lions, it is literally moving in slow motion to the explosive agile cats.
Haters need to stop thinking of other causes for the Hippos demise and realise that the only reason it got killed was because it stumbled upon hungry Lions.

@TurboIX i've seen the documentary, after 3 weeks dewclaw return in healt...she survive at the hippo's bite (One of the powerful of the mammals, and hippos have enormous canines), this is the strenght and resistance of a lion (Lioness), they can survive at hippo's bites!!!!! True kings of beasts!!!!

Great videos. In the 4th video the Lions killed both of the hippos. You should make a video showing Lions killing Giraffes and Elephants. There are a lot of videos of Lions killing Giraffes and Elephants.
Also I hate people that say Lions can only fight in a pride. There are so many videos of Lions hunting and killing large animals alone. Lone Lions are better at hunting then lone Tigers. The fact Lions sometimes hunt in groups to prevent injury proves Lions are smarter then brain-dead Tigers

WTF?! I don't get it... Why are those hippos don't fight back? I don't think it will be difficult for them to break out through these danger situations and just one bite they could easily kill any lion. The experts say hippos are so dangerous but I don't see what's so danger about them... I mean even in their life & death situation they just seem that they don't really care... they are kind of just saying: "come on, just kill me..."

@Pikachubby My opinion is that : Hippos spends most of their lives in water and the ones in these video are happen to be living in a drought (except for the second one though, that one just got outnumbered badly ).Without water those hippos become really weak and thristy so they make easy prey for predators.
