@keesurt i agree! have you ever hunted big game with a semi auto? i dont think i would ever leave my .257 roberts bolt!!! except maybe for my 8mm mauser!
My two scoped hunting rifles are a Remington 700 in .270 and a Benelli R1 in .300 Win Mag. I didn't think that there would be a difference, but the Benelli really cuts down on recoil. For hunting it doesn't matter (one shot), but at our 460 yard target range, I also prefer the Benelli. The reduced recoil means I stay closer to target between shots. Follow-up shots are faster for this reason, and also because the gun is semi-auto. To boot, I got the walnut stock and the gun is beautiful!
If you compare the two guns, maybe the Remington is "more accurate" on a strict MOA test, but I shoot more accurately with my Benelli in real world scenarios. If this gun is "inaccurate", what difference does 1/2 an inch make when you are shooting gallon jugs at 460 yards? No difference. The jug is about the size of the sweet spot on game, and at 200 yards, you'll get the kill. I prefer the gun that is more comfortable and shoots better for me. The Remington collects dust in my gun safe!
I am a Benelli fan, however... recoil-damping, not recoil-dampening.
