Saddam killed Kurds because Kurds wanted to become independent and take half of Iraq's oil.He did it to keep his country united.He didn't gas them,there's no proof,and logic in it.He made a war with Iran because Iran was threatening to take Iraq by brainwashing Iraqi Shias with their clerics(Sadr ring a bell?). The only bad thing he did was execute people who opposed him, which in a third world country with three different sects is arguably necessary.He educated his people and gave women rights.

Every country has separatist movements Scotland and Wales have some groups that want independence from the UK, there are some groups of Basques in Northern Spain that want independence, and the people of Tibet want independence from the PRC but those countries don't go around gassing those people just because they wanted independence.
