  • nice save!!!!! or just a fluke? Should of just covered it up and said watch this trick.

  • Finger failure!

  • you coulda just said that was a stunt :) nice save!

  • I told you that the gyro better install in the heli then in your pocket.

  • I told you that the gyro better install in the heli then in your pocket.

  • fantastic save!

  • On the topic of "new technology". I agree that Gyro's and what not help make the hobby easier and by not using one you are making life difficult for yourself. When i was looking into this hobby in the early 90s Gyro's were expensive and hardly anyone had them. Today full stabiliser systems and autopilots are like that. When they are common place it will take nothing to learn to fly and there will be no challenge. Just push the "Take off" button and go make lunch. See my point?

  • Too many people rely 100% on the Gyro. Real helicopters usually don't have gyros you just balance it with left rudder pedal.

HH Gyros are for 3D flight when you want the tail to stay on the same heading. For scale flying it's inconvienent because it defies the natural behaviour of Helicopters to point nose first into the flight direction. Without HH and the right gyro rate you should be able to do figure of 8s without any rudder input.

  • NICE

    Shane Cauley Wyoming

  • hahahahaa ;)

  • wow nice auto mate ;)

  • beginers and experts all should fly with (hh) Head Hold Gyro thats it

  • wow

  • shit

  • Blaze, you are a word starting with "W" that sounds like Anchor. A special one.

  • Dear Blaze. You are a complete idiot. The End.

  • hey, same thing happened to me

except it was the rx and tx that got effected

and all the programming was reset in the air..

  • thats not the same at all

  • my rc helicopter just spins around clockwise, i've tried trimming but it doesn't work any ideas on how to fix it?

  • Probably has the gyro direction reversed.

  • i don't suppose you know how to change the direction of it?

  • Not without knowing the gyro. There should be a switch on the gryo casing labelled DIR or something. It will be in the manual.

  • ok...what is the gyro for starters?

  • there isn't gyro's for starters all you need is a good gyro, fly in normal mode first then if you want after fly in HH mode. good luck

  • @mrhaydon Ha ha. It's been a year, but hope you already figured it out. If not, my suggestion if to flip the gyro around, so that it oriented in the opposite direction. (i.e. if the label is facing the left, flip it so that the label faces the right) Amazing this video is so old people are debating whether gyros are needed or not. I don't think that's debate anymore. Gyros open up the hobby to more people for sure.

  • @Nomoreidsleft Why would you want to mount it the other way around?

I'd say the best orientation is the one where the text and logo is perpendicular to the heli's axis. Unfortunately with this gyro this means cables are both in front and at the back of the gyro along the length of the heli.

Perhaps I'm missing something vital here about gyro orientations though, so holla back please. :)

  • @PHeMoX I was just answering mrhaydon . He wanted to know how to reverse the direction. If the gyro had no switch to flip orientation, I was recommending to just just flip it physically instead.

  • @Nomoreidsleft Yep, that usually works great indeed. But I did experience that some gyros are actually pretty picky about their orientation when it comes to 3D flight if you decide not to reverse it by on-gyro switch or digital programming.

I'm by far no gyro guru, so perhaps other things messed its performance up while flying inverted (it worked great upright, but actually started to compensate in the wrong direction when inverted, perhaps it was simply a non-3D flight capable HH gyro).

  • @mrhaydon Yeah, Smash it into tiny pieces, then chuck it in the bin. Sorted

  • wow, unlucky about the gyro, but must say, what an outstanding save, good work., thumbs up!

  • Hey Blaze1024- With all due respect my friend, We all have to start somewhere. It was unfortunate you were unable to learn on a sim. I chose to learn on a simulator because I am smart enough to know that I can learn faster, easier, and without costing any money. You would be stupid to not use a simulator. Please dont criticize our generation for being involved in new technology. I can assure you that if you had the ability to use it back in the early days, you would have. The Pros use it daily.

  • yeah and blaze1024 you can take a new gyro and stick it where you smell bad!

  • Blaze1024, Your just what we need in this sport. A positive role model for younger flyers to look up to and learn from. Go fuck yourself, with your 4 channel radio.

  • Sorry Blazeboy1024, I didn't hear what you said. I was busy listening to something else I wanted to hear. Could you please repeat your nonsense?

  • Comment removed

  • I am sorry your students have to learn slower than us and without knowing the true technology used by all the best pros in the business. I bet you set up the helicopter with the mechanical failure. It is a shame to see that when people can't succeed, they become instructors.

  • If your so wonderful, why don't you respect the fact that someone is trying to learn the hobby? Come on my friend, show respect and help out Don't belittle someone because they have a gyro problem. That's just sad and shows ignorance. If your such a Heli stud, why don't you act like one ? Besides, a lot has changed since 1974 , so why don't you? Try keeping up with the newest products and don't dwell on the past. Take care my old friend and.... think about it.

  • Wow, you are a stud. I didn't realize Depends, AARP, and Denture Cream were sponsoring heli pilots. That's great. Since you hate teaching so bad, why do you do it? Your sponsors would be ashamed to read your messages on this post. They would drop you in a second if they saw these messages. I assume this is why you hold a secret identity. I'm amazed to hear how bitter you are. I would say you were quite jealous that technology is making it easier for the new pilots.

  • I think you are simply jealous that the industry has become much easier and there is more help to receive. You learned the hard way and I admire that, but don't throw it down someone's throat because they are using the new technology to learn easier and for less money. Embrace it because it will only get easier. I feel sorry for your students because they don't know what they are missing and they have no idea you hate them. Dwell on the past my old friend. The future is here!

  • I am done with you Blaze boy. You are too depressed and have no direction in your life. When you go to the local store and purchase my products, think about what I said. Remember, the people you cry to just might be someone you know. This is what's fun about the internet. We can all hide from the public. Peace be with you .... Life is good! Lol.

  • Blaze, business is great. I make products that the economy doesn't affect. you probably purchased some of my products the last time you went shopping. Thank-You for that. The days of Model T's,black & white ,and lousy RC are over. Realize that if you don't use technology, the world will pass you by. The pros use all the latest technology and even promote it. Don't get lost in time my friend. Lighten up and go get some new rc equipment. Smile and think of me when you do.Take Care Blaze. I'm done.

  • OF course being a professional EE who just happened to work in the RF industry and who also happens to hold and Extra Class ham ticket and who also just happened to have worked with Phil Kraft wouldn't know anything about that sort of deception. My friend you have been shut out, sold out and screwed by the AMA, Futaba, JR and the FCC and you bent over and took it without a drop of Vaseline Whats funny is most people were to dumb to know any better.

  • That aint right to be calling people dumb about the 2.4 ghz. How the Hell is the average person to know? You;re and expert. I myself am into telescopes. Bet you don;t know shit about that, I could call people stupid for buying scopes at Walmart, or them falling for the magnification hype. 300X! (With a 2 inch diameter aperture, hello, it's all about light collection, not magnification) But I don;t dis people for what is not commonly known. You need a chill pill badly, man.

  • Do you think you are special? I think you are, very special indeed. You are a special person that does special things.

  • Blazy, It appears you had your time back when a T-rex was actually a T-REX. You know, a freaking dinosaur. Do everyone a favor and sit home w/ your salsbury steak and read your 1970 mags about how you were trying to learn how to fly and improve the industry. The only fame you have is the mockery of the person you are exhibiting on this YouTube posting. Go buy some new electronics and learn the easy way and don't be a grumpy old man because you didn't become famous from your little days in R.C.

  • LOl, Yes

  • lol no. ;)

Power related gyro failure due to water in the BEC.

I keep forgetting the explanatory comment is 3 pages back. D:

  • Looks like your Gyro direction was reversed

  • lol, no

  • You flicked your idle-up switch, maybe by accident. That seems more likely.

  • Maybe if I didn't always start in idle up. lol

  • nice save though

  • Did you hit throttle hold on 0:16 ?

  • Yep, looks like it.

  • Actually if you listen the sound's out of sync by a second or so. Whenever it stops pirouetting is when I his hold.

  • Definetley hit throttle hold...

  • wow!you saved your heli!

  • not enough gane

  • No, plenty of gain. Electrical fault due to water saturation in the BEC, actually.

  • Well done getting it down in one piece.

  • Pretty nice save :-)

  • wow, that was lucky it didn't crashed

  • it just looks like the trim reset itslef...

  • Maybe, if it was a blade.

  • wow that is one nice looking t-rex!

  • That was a great save..nice!

  • That was a 401, with a 9650.

  • what happend then? did you not set the gyro right or something?

  • No it got wet in a sudden downpour and failed somehow.

  • Oh ok.. So how is your t-rex now i am geting one soon :) and a dx7 radio.

  • It's sweet. The DX7 is well worth it too, I recently bought one myself. :D

  • Did u ever have that problem with your gyro or w/e or find out why it was doing it?

  • I got water into the BEC, or something.

  • ohh.. haha werid I got my T-rex fianly the new v2... I hope the RCE-BL35X esc comes with a BEC im sure it does.

  • what gyro are you using ?

you shold get a 401! they are good :)

  • No it was a free crash. So, a good day all things considered.

  • at least there was no damage (at least does not look like any)!!
