  • Ummm, so mirin is available in Canada or North America. Kinda surprised. Where did you really buy it???

  • @omatsu123 Yes, it is certainly available here in Canada. Some are imported and others are produced here. No doubt it depends where you are and the demand however, no problem here as there are Asia markets all around me (typical stores may sell it too). In fact. a very large Asian 'Superstore' just opened a few miles away. I can get pretty much anything there. Canada is a multicultural society. Folks want foods familiar to them. cheers! KtC

  • Oh you've done it now! I'm addicted to miso! I just made this stuff with your recipe and it's going on grilled salmon tonight! I can't eat lettuce, but I'll put this on everything else!

  • @CelticLady44 I love the miso too. Enjoy making a quick soup with it and using it in quite a few recipes. The dressing here is quite tasty. Great for the salads or even as a marinade or dipping sauce.

My Char Siu vid. (a recent post) uses the miso. I can't get enough of that sauce lately. Thank you and cheers Celtic! KtC

  • not sure what the flavor of miso taste like.....but you make it look amazing. might have to try this out! keep those amazing vids coming. kat

  • @evilkate666 Hi kat! Many stores have the Japanese salad dressings now. Kraft makes one. An easy way to try without going through the fuss. However, the miso is salty and is a soybean paste. There are other variations made from rice and barley too. It is used in many foods particularly miso soup.

The homemade dressing is superior to any store bought (although some Japanese (import) made types are really good). cheers, KtC

  • I can not wait to try this. I love miso. Can you please show me an easy way to make good, healthy miso soup? It is my favorite lunch meal -:) Thank you in advance.

  • @LilaMya22 I enjoy it too. For a quick soup try:

4 cups of water to boil

    add 2 tsp. dashi

use some of the broth and mix with 3 tbsp. miso paste (any is fine but I like the salty red), add back to broth

    add the tofu

Allow to boil /simmer about 5 min. garnish with some sliced green onions

    YUM! KtC
