  • sometimes i need to remind myself that even simple music can be great; i need to remember that doing simple things is as worthy of my effort as doing the most technical and difficult things i can in music. this song is that reminder to me, just listen to it. this song helps me to remember that my music would be better if i would include some simple parts.

  • " We could have changed the world, had you been here with me. Right now Held you in my arms.In my arms,my love Jesus wept so man could live forever on earth. In peace But my tears. They fall for you.Only you " Kills me every time

  • this song has so much sadness and grief in it that I ask myself each time before listening "are you sure you want that?". Sounds exaggerated, but true

  • darn it, they play in Mexico next Saturday and all tickets are sold !

  • With a nice cup of tea staring at the snowfall next to a fire. Beautiful.

  • thank you mate, this was my band in my childhood!

  • fuckin great song. thanks for this post. ahh memories!! ahh high school! damn.

  • why as a proposition is a muslim site for singles?

What is this You hope for...??

    WTF?

  • Where are these guys from? I cant tell, to me everyone sounds American in accent when they sing. &%#$ :o google! Aaaah there from North England for anyone who doesnt know.

  • @MrTex1987 Do you think? I think they sound pretty English. It's not as obvious as in some bands though I guess. Depends on how well you know the accent the singer has.

  • @MrTex1987

  • SHUT UP AND ENJOY THE MUSIC!;)

  • put thelyric please

  • @obscurecult

    w w w . darklyrics . com/lyrics/mydyingbride/theangelandthedarkriver.html#5

  • @lukaszw78 hehe thanks. I know the lyrics by heart, I was just commenting for people in youtube to post the lyrics along with the song :/

  • My Dying Bride is one of the most beautiful musical arts iv ever listen...

  • COLOSSAL..

  • new poem Mirrors on fire My images are opaque Wings of razor I bleed each time I reach for the sky I turned the sky into stone The altar of my anguish The stars my bleeding wrists Under their dust I spread my wings This constant pain Is keeping me discolored
  • Jesus wept so man could live forever on earth, in peace, but my tears, they fall for you. Only you..

    That's magic

  • @DeathMelodicGirl that IS magic.. that one phrase 'jesus wept so man could live forever on earth, in peace, but my tears they fall for you, only you' was the only thing keeping me company on many lonely nights growing up.. many tears were shed on my part to this song and if i could go back in time i would not save a single one.. i love this song :-)

  • I really feel ashamed for the rest of the world. Justin Bieber counts millions of views every day, and this masterpiece only got 71thousand of them... What happened to humankind? Since when music started to form an equivallent with rubbish?

  • @Lysertheshaman

But you can see it from an other side....this god like musik is only for exceptional people. :)

Maybe....with the years more people find the way to us!?

  • @Lysertheshaman When the expression "cool to listen around your friends" was invented.

  • the emperors of doom!!!!

  • I love this songe...kills me every time!!!! Over and over again.....

  • MDB is au concour. No one beat them!

  • aaaahhhhh..... I bought this on vinyl in 96 or so. Nothing can match the quality of this band played on a pure record. A crackle or two.... Gotta go dig in the vaults.

  • An awesome song, from a genious band, out of a great album.

  • 3:55 !! X_X Ah !!! it's incredible ... This band makes me feel so ALIVE, though their songs are more melancholic than other bands' songs- actually, this is the reason why they are so special, so beautiful... I think they could describe exactly what's inside my soul

  • @MelancholyCrisis : Yeah that's my favourite part as well. :)

Then "Cross my path and you'll suffer like no man before. At all."

  • one of the most beautiful songs ever ...

Final lyrics are incredible & 6:56 - 7:32 part is so fucking beautiful ...

    Art shaped in music

  • one of MDB's greatest songs, this one really hits home.

  • goooddddddddddd

  • Simply...amazing...

  • agree...i think anathema is underrated..think that alot of the metal world fan wise dont consider them to be heavy enough ..too light to be metal so alot dont listen...im a big fan i love their sound and feel...

  • For many years i didn't know that this is basically a Christian band, and this song is most representative about the roots of those guys. Great song.

  • @Atad64 They're not a Christian band. Aron (the singer) is an atheist, but he draws inspirations from the bible for his lyrics sometimes. But this is just because the bible is a great source for stories.

  • Deep lyrics , I love both , Lyrics and Song beside Aaron voice :)

  • When a band fails, its genre is called "experimental" eg: Anathema.

  • gentle dark icy cold perfection

  • NOBODY DIE! I WANT YOU ALIVE NUT*

  • they are one of my top 5 but ..im stuck with my past with fields of the nephilim as number one

  • @gardini100 Nephilim forever

  • BEST BAND DOOM EVER !!

  • Perfect tune for winter mornings :). They are truly one of the greatest bands ever.

  • @EmperorGoolash Perfect tune for winter moUrning, perhaps:P

  • Hehe, idd, works both ways I suppose :)

  • @EmperorGoolash I AGREE !, FUCKING AWESOME BAND FOR WINTER NIGHTS, DAWNS AND MORNINGS!!

  • it awakens my inner sad spirit

  • I have the most fun listening to the drum parts in this song, they always make me want to rock out.

  • Rock out? Are you mad, sir? This is one of the least "rock out" songs I've ever heard!

  • this is proper metal none of that red hot chilli peppers shit you listen to..

  • @zXTyRaNTXz What the hell are you talking about? My Dying Bride rank amongst my favourite bands and I've seen them live, but anyone who "rocks out" to this incredibly languid and slow-paced song is a moron, end of story.

And how do you know what I listen to? I find the Red Hot Chilli Peppers predominantly repulsive, although some of their 80s work is decent.

  • @ska2808 Actually their works after Californacation are the best, along with Blood Sugar Sex Magic

  • @Neueregel For you, maybe.

  • @zXTyRaNTXz Well I love both Peppers and MDB. Depends on the mood. I have (original cds) of both bands for many many years.

  • Amazing song <3

  • For 2 weeks I'm listening only My Dying Bride. Such a GREAT band !

  • Two weeks only? =P See what I did there?

  • @CadaveriumXIII Try Insomnium.

  • @CadaveriumXIII Well 10 months has passed since my last post... And now My Dying Bride is one of my all time favorite band.

  • i love the melancholy of this song, it makes me feel good....

  • @GothicVampwolf The whole thing is about the good feeling of Melancholy

in music like what Anathema,Katatonia,Radiohead,Tool,Massive Attack,Portishead,Karnivool,Neurosis, cult of luna,You will know us by the trail of dead,Karate and so on are playing.

    I feel the same way.

  • wow what depressing not

  • but beautiful to listen to. I am going to see this band live yeahh @ graspop

  • so sad

    so depressive sounding

    so GREAT!!!

    i love it

  • my current favourite from them!

  • love this song it have some depth in it and sad but in a good way

  • this comes from an age when all that was new and pure

  • Love this band

  • This song starts with a contemplative athmosphere, then erupts in a torrent of mesmerizing sorrow...amazing...

  • So Beautiful

  • beautiful

  • wow, awesome song

damn my dying bride, you are so good you got 5 ***** for this vid

  • emo is shit ,, rap is shit ... this is the music really !

    this is art !

wts up with emo here i dont care i love there music and im not emo

  • one of best mdb song....

  • Tiamat too

  • fucking good, great song

  • Doom Metal Just MDB , Empyrium , Anathema , Thats it

  • lol , ok , That is so beautiful to listen .

Is that better ? So what now ? yeah my english is too bad ! ,

  • Noobs... Idiots... It;s pure music... Pure sounds of suffering... Any EMO's, Any grandmothers leg... Just pure, clear, full of wondwer music... Nothing else...

  • I don't understand what's the EMO label! Who cares! just enjoy the music, No one can beat MDB, after all they're the one who brought doom metal to what it is today!

  • yeah this song i dont know .........its just gets better and better ....perfect song for his voice to it rolls a good six eyes for me

  • MDB are the gods of doom metal, just that.

  • i love them beyond words can discribe.. them and Agalloch. and Opeth. omg..

    and katatonia?

    -dies-

  • best My Dying Bride song ever , in my opinion.

  • Best lyrics ever! The best band besides Anathema. Just superb! Love you guys!

  • Anathema are very underrated, probably because they lost their doom metal sound, although their post-metal material is also fantastic. Same with Paradise Lost.

  • I agree completely! Anathema and MDB are the most underrated bands of the planet. Anathema changed a lot over the years, but I love all their albums from start to finish. Same with MDB. Best two bands ever! In case of PL, I lost a bit of interest in the band over the years. However, I will check out their newer stuff on youtube right now! ;) Thanks for the anwer.

  • I would say that My dying bride is a level better than Anathema but it's just a matter of taste. Anathema is more accessible, more rock than metal and less complex; but still cool.

Paradise lost was mostly death metal until 1995 when their best album was released, was great in 1997 but the 1999 CD was something like a mix of metal and techno, sorry. BUT then they got onto the right path again. A great band, just was wandering in weird areas for some tme in my opinion.

  • so right, so true.

  • @pronemortalform92 the unholy trinity \m/

  • and Katatonia also...

  • @soulstormblues1977 Totally agree. I have a hard time choosing between the two. Amorphis ain't that bad, either. Paradise lost? Gonna have to dig in the vinyl collection in storage. Thanks. PS They all sound Best on vinyl and headphones.

  • @strummer77clash I love the orchestration and depth. A lot of my death metal friends chuckle, but those three bands are the cornerstone of my dark side. I listen to a lot of types, but any new suggestions are appreciated.

  • @strummer77clash Continued: Try the band "Swallow the Sun" for example. And let your death metal friends chuckle! ;) One day they will understand why all these dark, melancholic bands are so great and "heavier" than many brutal death metal bands! :)

And I say this as a guy who is a fan of death metal like Unleashed, too...

  • @soulstormblues1977 Thanks! Will check them out. I think I've heard the name before...

  • @soulstormblues1977 : I've heard about the band Swalllow the Sun from you for the first time. I really like it, however I can't help myself comparing it to Katatonia all the time.

Check out StS - Moon vs. Katatonia - Teargas (at 0:20)

  • @KolomparVinetu Hey, that's funny, I love Katatonia too, one of my favorite bands! And there are some similarities, no doubt about that. MDB, Katatonia, Anathema (the new album excluded, not my cup of tea anymore...), old Paradise Lost, Swallow the Sun, etc... That's the stuff I can relate to.

There are people who think that Katatonia sound like a bad copy of Tool (I love Tool), but I have difficulties to compare these bands. Perhaps some riffs from Katatonia sound "toolish", but...???

  • @soulstormblues1977 \m/ Swallow the sun \m/

  • @soulstormblues1977

I would add saturnus and agalloch, and then the list is complete :D. And Anathema's summer night horizon is not that bad, I agree about the rest of the album though :). And yeah, I also like stuff like behemoth, bloodbath, insomnium, anaal nathrakh (these last two are both in my top 10 bands. Especially AN), but I still keep My dying bride and Saturnus as my complete favorites

And by the way, I prefer Katatonia to Tool =D.

  • @soulstormblues1977 Swallow the Sun are incredibly brilliant the music overall is a masterpiece my first impression about them when I listened to their records was that the vocalists growls are deep and very well pitched;just perfect for my taste so melodic....btw there is another metal band who gave up it's doom edge over the years and focused on a more death metal approach but has still remained a world class groups;Novembers Doom;)

  • @strummer77clash I love Amorphis, too. But only the older stuff. I'm in all things melancholic. Not much a fan of the new Anathema album, though. It lacks melancholy and despair... ;). Of course it's still good, but....

I love bands like MDB which are melancholic, but not not cheesy. I think that especially MDB has no mass appeal because their songs are not very catchy very often. One has to listen to them for some time to "understand" their vibe. And Aaron is a very "special" singer...

  • @soulstormblues1977 :S anathema is soooooooooooooooo underrated ... i am from egypt and everyone's like OMG Mdb are awesome

if you ask about anathema everyone goes like ... eh they r fine !

  • I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH

  • it's love :)

  • i love there music....sooo beautiful......Yet it is still METAL !!!

id love to see these guys live someday

    really good style

  • Haunting

  • The problem with emo is, the music is (besides being crap) just an excuse to be sad and stuff...

MDB, on the other hand, while perhaps with depressing lyrics, it also boasts music, and great music at that...

  • My Dying Bride could definitely do no wrong. I just wish their albums could be a bit more accessable, but that would probably mean they'd have to go MAINSTREAM...and we really don't want that, do we?

  • It isn't going mainstream that is the problem. It is the fact that they'd most likely have to change their music/image to do so. Hell I'd love to find more people that I could have conversations about MDB with but not at the expense of them being the flavour of the month.

  • why not join the MDB forum then? if you're a fan... i'm sure you will some interesting people there that love MDB as much as you do! Cheers! (nice name btw.. Mourning Beloveth are amazing too)

  • lol.... the band exist 20 years before that stupid fuckers(emo) apiar in this earth... the one who said that mdb are "emo" is truly a fagget!!!!!

  • this kindoff reminds me of the opeth song "to bid you farewell" :) so great. love these guys!!

  • Easily one of the best by My Dying Bride!

  • ..this beautiful song was my very first thing what I tried to play when I bought my guitar :D COME BACK TO CZECH REPUBLIC!!

  • emooooooo..... can u suck my........ u know!!!!! this is the original Doom..... since 1991.... learn some about that mf!!! XDD

  • Maybe you re too young for this kind of metal my friend.Or maybe you just don't possess the mental capability to understand it.Or maybe, maybe you haven't fallen in love yet...or haven't been hurt by it..

  • yes, i don't have the mental capability to understand it...

  • you are stupid!!

  • can som1 kill this idiot? :)))

  • If you mean "emo" as in "emotional", then I must agree.

    Is that a bad thing?

  • wtf? Emo??

My Dying Bride is Doom Metal (Actually I would call it MDB metal but thats not how it works)

If this is emo something somewhere went terribly wrong o.O

  • This is music, not emo.

  • you are stupid

  • I hope one day i'll see them live, even without this song. but yet it's great

  • I just wish that those bastards would come to Latvia - then I could sleep at nights finally :)

  • immense song

  • Great song. How could I have missed out of My dying bride for all these years...?

  • That's what i thought .... i was young... i miss this song...

  • @GRabazzi1 Same here, A few years ago, I was gothic, everything changed... I miss it sometimes, it's still so beautiful...

  • Le violon est incroyable, cette musique à partir de 3:54 explose de beauté et de perfection. Merveille.

  • Nice to see im not the only one that shows this song the appreciation it deserves.. Masterpiece.. Along with 'My wine in silence' fav MDB song and top 10 Doom Metal songs ever

  • truly sadness indeed..

it is a crying soul, yet so precious sorrow that we all understand

  • this is the best MDB´s album and this song is realy awesome, amazing!!!!

  • best doom band ever!!!Actually Aaron really feels the song and all the pain, during an interview he was asked why he never sings "Two Winters Only" live,he replied that he couldn't get into the right mood to sing it,he wasn't feeling the same emotion he felt when he wrote it...Aaron believes in what he does

  • Damn because I would love to hear this live more then anything on this earth.

  • thang 2 Y Asica 4 giving mEE da Muzik

  • this is exquisite :]

  • what the fuck you mean?????

  • My favourite song by them, probably on my top 5 ever, *Sigh!*, I felt like writing it....

  • I love writing out lyrics

  • truly great song

  • je to bomba a nechápu tak malej počet shlédnutí, doražte už taky zase do čech...

  • whaaaat??????????

  • This song is simply beautiful into its sadness. It's one of my favourite MDB's songs.

  • foarte tare piesa

  • intr-adevar... super :)

  • This is almost the greatest song ever written. (The 9th by Beethoven is still number one)

  • amazing...so sad, but yet so good

  • lovely:X:X:X]

  • me partio al medio... que temazooo

  • ive been looking for this song for a long time on youtube. loved it for years, all i could get was an amateur cover.(no offense to the guys who covered it) i apreciate the effort. thanks man who uploaded it. btw, listen to swallowed tears by trail of tears. just a great piece i feel obligated to pass on to fellow listeners of good music.

  • why hasn't this thing got more views?
