Thanks for uploading this,I never tire of listening to stories about these Engines when they were in their heyday.Back in 1975 I went
camping with the School to a place called Plawsworth near Durham City. The E.C.M.L.ran over a viaduct about 300 yards away.Deltic after Deltic came and went each screaming it's
own defiance and power, they did seem to be shouting "Get Back Dogs This I A Real Locomotive".Magic days never forgotten.
did you obtain this video from the five dvds ballymoss video made about last year showing around 8 hours of deltics at doncaster scrapline and inside the deltics too
No I FILMED IT ALL MYSELF AND NO ONE HAS SEEN IT AROUND 2 HOURS LONG WE GOT IN THE WORKS VIA SECURITY GUARD AND GOT ARRESTED BUT WE GOT OUR FOOTAGE, LOL.
when i used to visit the works the security guard used to give me the keys and i could film as much as i liked, i used to spend about three hours each time and nobody bothered me
The guard was ok but the cops nabbed us witha deltic door on the station platform and a rucksack full of parts! there was a guiy called Peter with a video cameras from Tamworth i remember in a camper van me and him must have been the first with these NEW video cameras in those days lol.
amazing story lol, I AM PETER bet i have you on video somewhere lol, hope youre ok now, still got all your bits then, i sold all the bodysides i got from doncaster, i sold the sides off deltics 55013,55004 and 55005, the rest went to the scrapyard, i made a set of dvds showing my visits to the works but it seems there is no interest, anyway it was a great story
WOW are you the chap who had the soney camera and that campervan did you have dark hair and a beard? me and my mate were 16 years old and were chatting to you alomg the back of the works im 42 now!!!!! i remember your camera it was better than mine! my dad threw all my parts away damn! remembered your name after all those years not bad for a 16 year old!
, i even took a copy of the deltic crest that was made for deltic D7017 THE DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY but this was never fitted to the deltic, over the years i did managed to track down every mould that mas#de the regimental crests that were placed above the nameplates, i also have the large plate and round plate includes the one at the front on the top under the light on the prototype deltic,
I don't know what was the best, being stood beside one as the Driver fired her up at K.X.,or standing on the little castle just above Durham station and watching one fly through on full power. They could be heard coming from the north for miles.
I was there at the PLANT150, seems so long ago now.

Well, I was introduced to the Deltics via a PC Game and liked it's performance. Although never saw it before myself, I did know it's heritage.
