so some info on roger and zap: they didnt use that auto-tune bullshit they used a talk box. so you had to play a guitar with a tube in your mouth that goes to some amp to make a good sound. it takes no real talent to do what t-pain and the others do! makin good music is actually an art form.
@blizzyrock If thats your logic on skinny jeans then one can have the following logic on baggy jeans: Whoever wears baggy jeans is just trying to hide all the hemorrhoids they got from getting pounded in the ass by another dude.
Much love to EPMD. Fuck all these crossover, soul sellin', tight jean wearin', wanna be gangsters but gettin' fucked behind closed doors ass niggas that's in the game today. I'd rather stay underground forever than to sell my soul for the fame and fortune. At least if you're underground you won't be forgotten by the underground community. But once you crossed over and fell off, you're instantly forgot about. Peace to brothas Erick and Parrish. And all the brothas who kept it real in the game.
@RapPwnage this is what i GREW up on baby!!!! check out some Cube,Naughty , Tag Team, Eazy E, Bone Thugz, Pac, Ice T etc.... also Ghetto Boyz and Cypress Hill
@porn1978 Makes me feel old when I'm listening to Time for sum Aksion and Red starts off by saying 1992... and yeah, people listen and think it's some new hot shit and i'm like, from 20 years ago, bro.
@ItachiZaku .....LMAO yeah i hated when they say the year to. You're right, some people actually think some of these are new becuz all they know is lil wayne and soulja boy etc.
This is the group EPMD, record labels use to prepare upcoming groups by featuring them silently with in the video teaching how a video should be done, notice who is in this video (Red Man, Das EFX, and other who never made it in the industry) I'm so sorry to say record labels are a pure front today there is no money in music today, it's all a front...!
I'm so glad there are still people out there who haven't forgotten what good hip hop is!! I've lost faith with all the hip "pop" BS that pollutes the airwaves. Don't drink from the mainstream kids.
the song is talking about rappers crossin over to rnb and pop. this was made back in the day but it applies to what rappers are doin nowadays. back then you was considered a sellout if you made songs like your favorite mainstream rapper does nowadays. this era is for fake and wack rappers
TRUE hip hop, Nuff Said. EPMD, true lyricists, with KICKASS beats. Straight outta Jersey. Rap nowadays is CACA, compared to this shit. Erik Sermon and Parish Smith killing em.
LOLi'd love to sellout if they paid me 80,000,000 a record deal i wanna be cool like SOuljah Boy,Gucci mane and Marky Mark.I wanna be a corporate white uncle negro kiss ass to my boss they also could work me like a puppet slave, forget about creativity look at the money and the girls WOW that would be real cool LMAO
@blacksultan85 You do know those guys always end up broke in the end don't you? Once you sell out out on your true fans you have nothing to fall back on once your gimmic burns out.
@TheCockdiesel32LOL yeah of course i know that's why i gotta kiss butt so hard to make it in life shine yo shoe gov'na if my boss laugh i laugh,if he mad i do urthing to cheer him up,if hes close to the door i will open it up for him cuh i luh my boss LMAO!!!!!!!!
this was the 90s epmdtold yall about the crossover back then they told yall about illumiatti "rappers sellig their souls to go gold" im strictly hiphop ill stick tokid capri fuckin right hip hop till the casket dip yall youngins cvan have all that gucci mayne, jeezy shit
The mind must be nourished so the truth can flousish. That's what these kids need today... the truth about hip hop. They need to be re-educated about the truth about hip hop and get away from this lil wayne garbage hip pop shit. Real hip hop doesn't promote making fast cah, sex and naked women, bling bling, and all that other bullshit. Hip hop is about life and enjoying music. To all you kids today, WAKE THE FUCK UP!!! Do your history on real hip hop and erase that bullship hip pop mess.
this is real hip hop! i never get tired of this song,i use to see pretty eyes eric shopping at the colosiuem in ny,i use to attend the parties where dj kid capri was the dj in nyc, this was our theme song for mtv the grind,i'm a former mtv the grind dancer.
EPMD SAID IT WAY BACK THEN THE CROSS OVER is here its here rap sucks dick..peace to real hip hop peace to turntables and niggas that still remember the essence of hip hop///fuck tha south i said it..fuck um
Back then, Dr. Dre sampled funk beats for that whole West coast G-Funk style. Erick was one of the few East coast producers doing the same thing, but with an East coast style.
DAM, EPMD In the house, this is comin from a WEST Coast fan In rapper Crossover was the shit back then Erik Sermon was just so good In his prime EPMD told, me how HIP-HOP was going die even today I wonder how did, they notice that HIP-HOP was going die... I'm still thinking even today, and 1 point man, I wish they made song's like this now a days.
Yeah, sellouts crossing over from hardcore/underground hip hop/funk to pop/R&B for money. This reminds me of Paparazzi by Xzibit. Remember 2pac singin' about that: "If you ain't in this rap game for the ma fuckin' cash, man, then what is your mother fuckin' purpose?" Sometimes it's hard to keep apart the real from the fake. Crossover is from when real hip hop was still alive (as was Eazy-E). But EPMD was right: some years later (Paparazzi came out), things started dying.
Listen to 1:20 he speak the truth right there Hip Hop saw it coming but the real kept it real! I am proud to say this was my era and i rep it till i die REAL HIP HOP!
Exactly! The man that will lead the way for change is Shad K. His flow and beats are amazing, and the sweetest and most refreshing thing of all is he talks about a lot of social issues such as the Rwandan Genocide which his parents fled from and some members of his family were killed. ALL LOVERS OF HIP HOP NEED TO LISTEN TO AND SUPPORT THIS ARTIST!!!!
Exactly. All they are concerned about is making a few quick bucks, and they're 15 minutes of fame. It's also a shame that kids today actually listen to and, not only just that but support these artists. But I'll tell you what people are getting tired of hearing the same old crap songs over and over again. They're will be a major change in Hip Hop in the next 5 years.
Don't even call them MC's because all they really are is engineered garbarge put together by major labels. Hip hop has really gone down the toliet, but dont worry there is a new wave of ARTISTS coming and if you dont belive me listen to Shad K.
Simple plan of action:..The idea is to get more people to understand the sorry state which HipHop finds itself in..I need the help of every true Rap afficionado! For the next 6 months let's ALL copy and paste a link to this song on every fake ass rapper's videos. I think it would be interesting to see if we can make ourselves heard and hopefully take HipHop back to when it was COOL to be intelligent and something to aspire to as opposed to aspiring to slinging crills and popping heaters...
I can't believe it! EPMD was tryin' to warn us THEN about the direction rap was going and it ain't good. Looking at rap today shows they were right. Luckily they gon bless us again with their new album "We mean business" droppin' the end of October 2008.

@ClassicBeauty4real:

They're will be a major change in Hip Hop in the next 5 years.
cloudyshelf 3 years ago
