gotta serious question. im not here to hate, just curious about something. Why is it when ever i see a fast evo at the track, im talking 11 seconds or faster, they backfire like crazy. I understand its a boost thing, but I have owned turbo mustangs and a turbo ls1 and never did they pop and backfire like an Evo does. Why do they do this?

He's not hitting his rev limiter. He's hitting his launch limiter (aka 2 step/launch control). It is set at 5500rpm from the factory which is the lowest you would launch an AWD car at. He may have reprogrammed it to launch at a higher rpm.

the evo 9 has it stock the evo 8 has it but it's not on there till you turn it on with a laptop and some software, real easy. The hard part is adjusting the timing for how much boost you want to build on the launch, 7-8psi is safe, I launch at 14psi and the guy who tunes my car launches at 20 but get ready to break shit
