My best friend was just 16 when he was kept for three days and raped and beaten by Israeli soldiers. His crime: being in the wrong place at the wrong time. @RedTracour I cannot and will not make a distinction between abuse and torture, though. my friend used to be a human rights lawyer- until the government cut the budget- and there are many such stories from all over the world. But likewise, the thought that at this moment in time, somewhere there is a child, a woman, beaten, starved, abused horrifically sometimes makes me really sad, because one feels so helpless. At least with governments one can try to put pressure on them. :)
