This is one of the reasons Disco died. Not the song - the song is a bonifide classic. But it was the fact that the Disco sound was so popular until about late 1980, even established rock acts were starting to jump in the fray. Disco fans didn't like rock artisits going Disco, and Rock fans felt the same. The Disco market started getting oversaturated in '79. The genre was basically dead by the time Reagan took office in January of '81.
Man Leny deserves and deserved SO much more credit than he got back then... When I started buying APP CDs Lenny and Chirs Rainbow songs became for me like the special treats on each CD and I always hoped they had at least one song if not more on the CD I was buying that particular time...
Alan Parsons was an amazing man as both a musician and a producer, the work he did with floyd alone should have gotten him into the R&R hall of fame not to mention the work with APP.An all around great song!
This song is so real. Couples say things like this and stay together even though they don't like their lives. Many divorce, it's so prevalent after the kids leave the nest. It's almost like graduation and divorce go together
Alan, Alan, Alan. Why oh why couldn't you have created more promo films like this back in the day when you were making these great recordings. This clip is magnificent!!!!
This song is Pure Pimpage! The Kids Incorperated version even kicks a little ass, up untill the point they replace the word "damn" with "dime". Did Alan even give those little 80's freaks the right to use that song? If so then shame on you Alan Parsons...shame on you.
For those interested, Lenny Zakatek "the voice" is doing some concerts with a special APP repertoire, including this song and others which he never sang in the Project, partly as tribute for APP songwriter Eric Woolfson which passed away in December (and which revealed this video from archives a few years ago). Next concert London Leicester Square theatre October 19th, see info on youtube(dot)com/LennyZakatek
@fucheduck Zakatek was born in Pakistan/India. Curiously in one of his first singles he interpreted the role of an American Indian. See youtube(dot)com/lennyzakatek
Sono esterrefatto. Quante volte ho immaginato la Band suonare in studio. Ho sognato mille volte Stuart Elliot suonare la batteria... Lenny cantare...
@urbania70 a rarity indeed eric wearing the viking helmet is quite fun, he always seemed so serious in pictures but people who knew him say he was a generous yet private man- the private man and artistic man are quite different i just hope we don't lose this to copyright laws like eric and alan doing stereotomy in the studio it was good of eric to rfelease this it's like a time capsule heres hoping more become available for fans to enjoy
Faaaantasticooo.
I saw them live in 2005, when they played this song everyone just got INSANELYWILD! everyone SCREAMING and dancing and singing! Córdoba, Argentina January 2005
@sscrystal10 Yes, Alan has now a band reproducing the original sound. However, it doesn't include any founder members more than himself. The video you see here is an incredible rarity, featuring all original members in studio. Including Eric, which put this video out of the archives only two years ago, though it was recorded around 1979.
I posted this video and some one told me to deleted other wise I would be in trouble and I didn't get any I was a chicken shit I believed the guy :-( later I love Alan Parsons music with Erick bye! ♥♥♥♥
@Nexus974: Even if incomplete, this clip is a rare gem that must be much appreciated. It has been posted by the official site 2 years ago, after 20 years we fans never saw a video of APP playing in studio (although this is most likely a playback - but the musicians are the originals). This video hadn'd been published in eighties. As for why it's incomplete, see my reply to Mikecnw
@Mikecnw: Not only the intro (which is not unusual for videoclips) but all instrumental part and 2nd part. It's possible that the work on the videoclip was abandoned, for the record company hadn't interest, or that it hasn't been published entirely to avoid an improper commercial use of it, saving it for a possible official dvd (it has been published only 2 years ago by the official site, see my reply to Nexus). The question has been posted on the official forum.
I think it's a playback, for Alan used to record a song in long time, one track at a time. Also, you can see Eric playing the loop keyboard (above the piano) only in the intermezzo, while it goes on in all piece.
I can tell right off the bat that this is not the whole song, but over all I thought it was FANTASIC! I mean how aften do you find the studio version of such a great song realy nice work. Keep up the good work.
Simplemente maravilloso¡
Hi Loop.. this comes from the off. site: Eric (or Alan) put it out of the archives after all this years, as part of the current discographic relaunch operation. Yes, only we fans realize the rarity of this gem: we never saw before in video the original group performing in studio.
Thank you for your comment and mentioning about Lenny. I did know it was him. All the people who appeared on on the AP albums are fantastic but I am massive fan of David Paton I have been since the Pilot days.
