  • I'm I missing something? Why do you want to use a low resistence atty with higher voltage? Wasn't the LRs designed for the Ego users who didn't have higher voltage.

  • @bigsmoke634 Actually LR atties draw too much amperage for the Ego batteries, and most LR vendors like Avid Vaper recommend not using LR atties on them. I just happen to like LR at about 4.2v, can't get that off anything but a just fresh 3.7 battery. VV is also a way to regulate your voltage to keep 'fresh battery' voltage throughout, in essence.

  • I was in the market for a dedicated VV to replace my boosted ego kit and can't justify a Provari right now. But this review helped me decide to go the big bat tube mod route instead - I just prefer the no frills mechanical reliability and then there's the Kick as a future Darwin style option. Just seems the way forward for me personally. Great review.

  • Also, I have to say that with my regular resistance 510 atomizers and (I haven't used cartomizers on it much at the time of this post) with my regular ohm 510 cartomizers, it seems to really satisfy both my throat hit craving and my vapor production needs. I love it! I am 21 years young and I only make $8.35/h with only 12 hours a week. I got one battery, a charger, case, tip, and unit for under $60.00 and I feel very fortunate to be able to share in the high voltage experience w/wealthier ppl.

  • I like your videos you are very informative and homely and pleasant to watch. Your voice is timid and kind. You seem to have all of the most expensive mods. I've seen you review the Provari, the Darwin, the GG.. Very nice! You remind me of the uppclass residents of my state. I live in Connecticut. I would take a shot at guessing you live in CT or a classy area of New England?

  • We all know about the VV electronic booster problems with LR and dual coil (Same as Provari by the way) Put a low resistance on a Buzz Pro and jack the voltage and it will destroy the atty quite nicely. If you want the freedom to destroy your property so be it.

  • What do you expect from a dual coil cartomizer (Who the hell uses those? 2% of vapers?)

  • 49.99 at vaporzone

  • You know. If i dont see you face you sound much like Gretta Van Susteren from Fox news. I dont know if thats a good or bad thing but you do. Your a great reviewer btw.

  • I have a Pro Vari and love using the dual 1.5 but like to vape at the max 4.0 to as high as it will let me go before the error MSG I can never ger above 4.2 with out that happening. I was hoping this mod would allow that. Thanks for the review and saving me the 70 bucks because now I-C thats not for me. I have made my own mods B-4 too. even laced my finger open with a razor in the process

  • I'm willing to pay 2x what the Lavatube costs for the ProVari. I am glad that I am able to purchase a quality MOD made in the USA. I agree with you though. If someone can't afford a ProVari and the Lavatube keeps them off cigarettes, then hallelujah!

  • I was considering this mod but am not going to get it now. Thanks for another great review.

  • Great review but there's no point in using a lr atty or carto on a higher voltage device. The best overall vape is between 8 and 10 watts so using a lr atty or carto with high volts is vape suicide. Just my opinion mind you. This device is best used with a standard or high resistance atty or carto to get a great experience, lr products are used to give a great vape with underpowered mods or batteries.

  • Lets be honest here, us LR users have no business with any of the tube VV devices out right now. We can get much better form factor mods at 3.7 (and mechanical mod durability).

  • You are awesome. A good explainer :-). Don't listen to the naysayers. You call it as it relates to you, but you point out all features. Like you, I keep some LR cartos for tanks so I can switch back and fort from my non vv monkey Boxx and my vv monkey Boxx. If the lava tube fails with LR, it is indeed RELEVANT! Saving up for Provari. What color huh huh huh? Choices! :-). Love your work. Thanks!!

  • Dang. More tech crap. I just want to fill the room up with smoke, stay away from fags and do all that with as less money as I can. All the rest is a diff language. Can anyone help me find the rite set up ( Lots of vape and battery life)? I already have over $200 in things that are not working well. Just want it to work like it should per my style. I have v-2 and 21stcentury. The 21st I will have to say has never let me down. Two v2 batt's dead in 10 days. I just need more smoke.

  • Great review! I was going to get one of these untill i watched this. Because like you i only use LR attys and dual coil cartos so it really wouldnt work for me... Thanks for saving me some money!

  • Thanks for this video, nice job!! I just received my lavatube and ALL your comments and observations were spot on.....I also learned a few things about variable voltage mods, such as, I needed a volt meter like the one you have in your video! LOL So, I ordered one.....

  • con't:I’ve been vaping for over two years, and the Lavatube (or Knight Rider up here) is marriage of product, performance, and price point since the eGo was launched. It will sell many in the US.Btw,it's easy for someone to criticize when they chain vap on 30+ mods at the same time.

  • @chuckupnow1 I never said I was unbiased. But given how my unit performs, its not for me. There are a few others who vape the way I do. I never said it was a bad mod, everything else, on non-LR stuff was perfect. If that's how you vape, its an amazing deal.

  • @chuckupnow1 Don't be a jerk because you can't get a proper VV device. You get what you pay for, the lava tube isn't going to be perfect... but then again nothing is.

  • @videoclip425 Aw shucks, be nice "beam" boy. You misunderstood me, after 3 years of vaping I really like this mod, at any price....ZAP,ZING,ZOOOM

  • At $89cad,which includes 2batts,2atty's,drip tip, and a carrying case. The price point difference is too great to ignore. It does what it says.As for dual coil w/a tank, not sure what the deal was yours, but as I write this, my plumes are as good as a SB at 5V with a dual coil. This was not unbiased in the least, other than the degree difference in the 510 connector

  • Good review, you have to remember why we all started using LR and DCC though, because standard ohm at ties at 3.7v were meh. A standard resistance atty tuned with a VV should out perform an LR at 3.7v. The drop in your lavatube is also much greater than those I've seen on other reviews with DCCs but then for the price there are going to be inconsistencies.

  • Also, see GrimmGreen's Lavatube Followup at 5:40 showing the loaded voltage of DCC at 3.7V

  • @abigdavid That because he's using probably a 2.0 ohm DCC on the Lavatube. If he uses a 1.5ohm DCC it will drop to around 3.30V.

The Provari with a 2.0ohm let's you vape at 4.5V, same 2.5 AMP limit but somehow it's messed up in the Lavatube.

  • I can say that the DCC and LR might have dropped too low also because the batts are already at 3.6V which is close to empty. Try doing it again with a fully charged batt or atleast something higher than 3.6 battery reading.

  • Thanks for the review Jen, it's nice to see someone talk about one that's not a LavaTube fanboy! Objectivity is refreshing.

  • I am not sure where you read that it will drop to 3.7 (Just re-read preorder page, it does say 3.7-my mistake). The employees I've spoken to say it will drop you to where your draw on the unit is around 2.5 amps. Which means a 1.5 ohm (their lowest) atty will go to 3.7/3.8 or there abouts. What was the ohms on your tank carto? If it was dual coil at 2 ohm each, giving an effective 1 ohm resistance, that might be why it is dropping so low. I'm guessing it was an oversimplification by them.

  • Thanks Jen - best review I've seen of the Larva tube IMO. One thing I have noticed between all the reviews of the LT is the fact that they all seem to act differently to different resistance atties.

  • you must have gotten a defective lavatube bc I did the same test with dual coils and it only goes down 2 points on the volt meter.

  • very good review my friend

  • @jaSzCatz It's cheaper. It's $20 Chineese mod.

  • Another great review. Only the body costs around 50$ here in Europe.

  • Thanks for the review. It's probably made my mind up not to bother with a Lavatube - All I use are LR DCC tanks or 306s, like you.
