I don't get why people are saying that this movie sucks because it took so much out of the book. Judge the movie by itself. Don't compare it to the book.

You replace the title role of a film because of a few publicity shots? Get real, it doesn't work that way. And whats the big deal anyway? Stop making a taboo out of nudity! I think the movie concentraded too much on comedy and romance. They left out so much. If you have read the book, you know what I mean. They didnt' explane ALOT and I really don't know how the 7th movie is. I havent watched it yet but I'm not even sure I will, cause I dont know how they want to continue on with so much missing in the 6th movie.
I think that this movie had too much romance and lame jokes and not enough action. They completely removed the big battle at the end. Honestly, I think that seeing the trailer was actually better than the movie itself, because I didn't have to sit through an hour of boring stuff just to see a couple minutes of action and important plot points.

While the ending is pretty anticlimactic, Half-Blood Prince is still a dark, pretty humorous, and certainly welcome entry into the Harry Potter franchise.

I also felt the whole cave scene was very rushed. small things like jumping from finding the boat rope scene to them traveling to the island gave a rushed impression and the creepiness of the scene was lost slightly.

When you say about how hard it is to wrap up a film without it dragging on, I've got to say that only would seem a problem to me if the source material was poorly structured. For a screenplay writer it might be very hard to get a book right, but as a viewer it just felt like the film never built to anything. It ended with a bit of a whimper almost as though to say "you'll have to pay us again to see the next one or else", unlike earlier films in the series that had better stand-alone value.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince darkens the level enough for its main crowd, as well as makes the story interesting enough to pull in even non Potter fans, with another great entry to the franchise.
Between the dark adventures of Harry and Dumbledore and the teenage angst and romance between Ron, Hermione and Lavender, Yates and his talented team have created a film that will be remembered far after the last word is written and scene is shot.
AHA! A film that doesn't come out so much sooner in America than England that I get a chance to compete at the one sentance challenge! This could be my only chance! *Panic!*

As millions go to see the book they've known, many will be dissapointed despite how the actor's skills have grown as it feels like the story dragging out and hence, you'll have to pay to see the sequel for it to make any sense.
A delicate balance between intriguing story and fanciful FX, Harry Potter 6 marks the greatest evolution in an instant-classic franchise yet - and much like William & Harry - this nuanced maturation of the Half Blood Prince into a bold, elegant and confidant young adult...makes ME want to be a better man. 10/10
The visual styling and character development of this movie leaves nothing to be desired, however the anti-climactic cliffhanger left me unsatisfied in what should have been a well orchestrated setting of the stage for the grand conlusion to the Harry Potter series.
For a movie I'd give it a 9. but For a HARRY POTTER MOVIE!!! like, a 5. you feel the familiar sensation of coming to a point, but no point is ever reached; this movie DID not live up to its name.
This Harry Potter was spectacular to behold with visual effects, but the main story suffers from the romantic comedy styling of the script. If the story has been fixed within the next movie then I'm sure many Potter fans will return to this movie and see it for its great visual effects and charming script. 8/10

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was largely an over-hyped disappointment; it attempts to portray every detail of the characters' relationships, but fails to keep many viewers interested for a very long 2.5 hours; the flaw was not the acting, special effects, or plot, which were all above satisfactory, but rather a poor, boring adaptation of the book that rides on the coattails of its previous hard-earned glory.
The 6th installment of the Harry Potter Franchise is a good film but not exceptional as it only serves to set up the next 2 movies but still delivers the magic that fans of the series will enjoy.

The Empire Strikes back had "a whole lot comedy to overdo the film"? I don't recall much humor in the Empire Strikes Back. Before Revenge of the Sith, it was far and away the only "dark" episode of all the Star Wars movies. Sure, it did some goofy moments, but I wouldn't say those moments overdid the movie.
Harry Potter 6 delivered comedy, action, and a great story line throughout, leaving fans happy but disappointed as it tended to steer away from the book.
I did enjoy the movie but it reminds me of Eargon, a promiseing book that was cut down, deviatate and didnt following the story, the same can be said for Harry potter 6.
If you've read the book, like myself, you will notice that they left out a few important parts, but keep in everything that is really needed to show how wonderful their actors are, and keep the film very close to the book.
seriously half of the memories r taken out(pensive memories), bill and flur, i dont recall the burrow gettin burned down, big fight at the end when bill gets hurt?????honestly if they had put everything in and made it 4-5 hours i wood have sat threw and watched cuz i was lookin forward to some of the scenes in the book be put to life and i was really let down in that aspect.
This movie was good but dark and it started to bring together loose threads from previous films, so make sure you watch the other films before seeing this one.
I don't know about anyone else but I though Ratcliff has consistently played a good part in the HP movies. I had no idea he'd appeared nude in a play but that has no bearing on his performance in the movie. Good actors play lots of roles, that's there job.
Why didn't Tom Felton get mentioned in this? He made the movie A LOT better. I thought he, Michael Gambon and Rupert Grint were the best in this movie. Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson were okay, but not the best.
Visually this movie is definitely worth waiting 8 months for, but that and the humour doesn't make up for the rushed scenes and storyline, which what I expected from this movie to have.

It ended with a bit of a whimper almost as though to say "you'll have to pay us again to see the next one or else", unlike earlier films in the series that had better stand-alone value.

What about the funeral scene or fawkes lamenting? these are the heart of book 6 and they are noot even in the film.
book 6 was a 10/10
this as a film is 8/10
as a film to the fans it's more like 7.5/10
the fantastic conclusion of the book could not be matched in the time frame the movie gave it.
a funny and well constucted first half kept me hopefu but overall the climax was underpower.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince darkens the level enough for its main crowd, as well as makes the story interesting enough to pull in even non Potter fans, with another great entry to the franchise.

Between the dark adventures of Harry and Dumbledore and the teenage angst and romance between Ron, Hermione and Lavender, Yates and his talented team have created a film that will be remembered far after the last word is written and scene is shot.

As millions go to see the book they've known, many will be dissapointed despite how the actor's skills have grown as it feels like the story dragging out and hence, you'll have to pay to see the sequel for it to make any sense.

The visual styling and character development of this movie leaves nothing to be desired, however the anti-climactic cliffhanger left me unsatisfied in what should have been a well orchestrated setting of the stage for the grand conlusion to the Harry Potter series.

This Harry Potter was spectacular to behold with visual effects, but the main story suffers from the romantic comedy styling of the script. If the story has been fixed within the next movie then I'm sure many Potter fans will return to this movie and see it for its great visual effects and charming script. 8/10

Hi I just saw the movie. And i'd like to say that it wasn't just a waste of time and money, but i can't. It's not only that the movie was so bad, includind the actors (harry is the oddest character), the predictible plot, the incredible but boring effects, but the movie doesn't offers anything diferente than the previews films. so i may say this is a 5/100. Sorry harry's fans.

The Empire Strikes back had "a whole lot comedy to overdo the film"? I don't recall much humor in the Empire Strikes Back. Before Revenge of the Sith, it was far and away the only "dark" episode of all the Star Wars movies. Sure, it did some goofy moments, but I wouldn't say those moments overdid the movie.

I did enjoy the movie but it reminds me of Eargon, a promiseing book that was cut down, deviatate and didnt following the story, the same can be said for Harry potter 6.

If you've read the book, like myself, you will notice that they left out a few important parts, but keep in everything that is really needed to show how wonderful their actors are, and keep the film very close to the book.

seriously half of the memories r taken out(pensive memories), bill and flur, i dont recall the burrow gettin burned down, big fight at the end when bill gets hurt?????honestly if they had put everything in and made it 4-5 hours i wood have sat threw and watched cuz i was lookin forward to some of the scenes in the book be put to life and i was really let down in that aspect.

This movie was good but dark and it started to bring together loose threads from previous films, so make sure you watch the other films before seeing this one.
I don't know about anyone else but I though Ratcliff has consistently played a good part in the HP movies. I had no idea he'd appeared nude in a play but that has no bearing on his performance in the movie. Good actors play lots of roles, that's there job.

Why didn't Tom Felton get mentioned in this? He made the movie A LOT better. I thought he, Michael Gambon and Rupert Grint were the best in this movie. Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson were okay, but not the best.
