Janis Joplin's infamously owned one of these exact model & year. She wasn't thrilled with white, so it was painted physedilcally (sic)...thanks for posting!
I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Mercedes vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and EFi injectors clean as new!
@leonelkk: After 1955 Porsche revamped the 356, so it actually had relatively few VW parts even though it was still a flat four. The steering rack, headlights and some suspension bits were still VW-sourced. Porsche made its own cylinder heads from the late 1940s, though, so even on the early 356s they weren't exactly running VW engines.
doesnt fucking matter how u pronouce it has long has u own one, who gives a fuckkk, i own a 79 911 sc porche and i dont give a fuck how i spell it or say it, i own one and thats all i give a fuck about! for all u fucking perfectionists porsche, ass holes!
anyone who owns a Porsche and calls it a porsh should have their teeth kicked in. This trust fund kid probably got this car because his girlfriend thought it was cute. and yes i am jealous
@bonedar333 You take life way too seriously. If somebody saying Porsche differently than you makes you want to kick their teeth in, you need to seek professional help and probably start a medication regiment.
My favourite car ever (although my real favourite is the 356 B Super 90 Roadster), is there a 356 C Convertible? Have it in brown and you get magnolia interior
I am American, the company Porsche is pronounced "Porsha". You do not sound pretentious by pronouncing something correctly. Not trying to start a fight here, im just saying..
The 'e' in Porsche is neither pronounced like an english 'a' nor is it pronounced like a german 'a' ;).
If a german word ends on an 'e' this character is then pronounced in it's own way, which even got it's own phonetic character because there is no character that sounds like this.
The pronounciation is something like a mixture of a german 'a' and 'e', somewhere in between
Thanks for the clarification. I've owned two of them (993 and 356 Speedster) and I've always pronounced it with two syllables, 'Porsch-uh', trying to be accurate.
yesterday I had the pleasure to drive in such a porsche. same color, but 140 hp. what an adventure!!! gotta love this car.

Owned one of these back in the early 1980's. Should never have sold it. I have a hotted up Triumph TR8 now, but still miss the 356.

I have a factory video from the 993 /911s and when they were interviewing everyone at the Porsche factory they ALL pronounced
It por-cha. I'm pretty sure the german factory test drivers and workers have it right
rhcpfan1981 1 year ago
@rhcpfan1981 That's right. In German, the "e" on the end is always pronounced--that applies to all German words.

How would you pronounce "Germany", and should the germans come round to kick your teeth in when you don't say "Deutschland"?
So most people say 'porsh'. Rather than the homosexual variant, 'porsha, darling'
Malc180s 2 years ago 2
but i say 'porsh' and i don't end it 'darling'

In the United States if you pronounce it "Porsch-ah" you sound like a pretentious faggot. Americans speak like Americans. Get it, genius?
