I have to agree with his point about "cashin in" in particular that trash of Wizard I remember i almost fell for it. And boi they went at Eddie Murphy hard and this was over 20 years ago ROFL
Who can remember Harlem Nights? Eddie Murphy's heavily fouled-mouth,graphically violent crime flick that also wastes the talents of 2 dead comics Redd Foxx & Richard Pryor. It should have gotten an NC-17 rating for Graphic Language.
5:15 " ...tells the story of a 9-year old video game wizard who doesn't talk, but is a genius at the Nintendo controller." cut to kid dying in stage 1-1 of Super Mario 3...lol
to people on here that think harlem nights was bad........you just dont understand black humor.....harlem nights was one of eddie murphys funniest movies
@CVargas I think Hulk Hogan dug the dookie out of that guy's pants, threw it at a movie screen, and the result was "No Holds Barred." (With a little left over to make "Mr. Nanny" and "Suburban Commando.")
Harlem Nights: Eddie Murphy's worst film of the 1980's. Director Murphy tried his hardest but after hearing the F-word 20 times in 5 min. I had a bad feeling for this. Never have I seen this much great talent trapped in a rotten film. The only time I laughed unfortunately was when Murphy found out Jasmine Guy was trying to kill him. Duh. *1/2
Agree with these guys. Harlem Nights was so unbelievably unfunny it pretty much destroyed any 'funny' power Eddie Murphy had from then on. Literally the only 'good' comedy he made after that was The Nutty Professor and even that paled in comparison to the original.
Agreed, they did like Die Hard..well, at least one of 'em did, but both liked Die Hard2..?...go figure.. lol. Still loved there banter....just some of there opinions I thought were unjust is all..
As I said in the "worst of '87" vids these boyz did before...They were getting much much much more fuddie duddie as the yrs. went on...I LOVED HARLEM KNIGHTS....&* I know the public did too...these boyz just got older & older & older as time went on..& could not see humor anymore.. Now I agree, the easy ones are easy to see...Hulk -Anything is Crap, we know this...any mario movie is Crap...but to bulk HN with these bums...bummer for you fuddies...
@kentkatchem These are only their OPINIONS, that's what they do and people can disagree, but don't call them wrong because you disagree with them. It's not like their words will cause the vanishing of any movie we like.
@adiostraitorobama the marx brothers are the best ive seen and own all their movies duck soup horse feathers and monkey business are the best of them. i love groucho.
@adiostraitorobama good choices i love the marx brothers espically duck soup and also will ferral jim carrey eddie murphy john candy and bob hope annd rodney dangerfield
@adiostraitorobama true i have laughed at lots of movies others hated lol uhf for example whos harry crumb both from 89 im sursiped uhf was on neither list
Thanks for uploading so many of these classic Siskel & Ebert shows, especially since the "at the movies" website is gone, where there were many classic reviews.
What Murphy needs to do is hook up with talented directors like Appatow, Reitman, and Todd Phillips. Even if those guys can be hit or miss, at least they have some hits. I can't believe some of the untalented hacks Murphy's worked with. I looked at the rotten tomatoes and Wikipedia pages for this Brian Robbins, who directed Meet Dave and Norbit, and he's never done anything that didn't suck. He should be working with D list talent, not Eddie Murphy.

I wonder what their top ten lists of '88 stinkers looked like. I'm also surprised that Erik the Viking and Speed Zone didn't make the worst-of list considering how they thoroughly hated those two films.
I first saw "The Wizard' in the theaters when I was 9, and it still remains one of my favorite movies but I think thats more for nostalgia reasons than actual quality. I didn't really put 2 and 2 together about the blatant product placement. I just thought it was cool looking and I was a fan of Fred Savage.
Harlem Nights is a classic man. That scene particuliar is somehow one of the most memorable scene of the movie. I remember a older couple walking out the movie because of its cursing.
At this time in history (1989), Eddie Murphy's ego was so big it applied for statehood.

"The Wizard" was idiotic.I mean, how can you be a professional Super Mario player ?
At least, now the game sphere is competitive with FPS,RTS etc.,didn't make sense for a movie in 1989.
