my moms family is from ponta delgada and my dad's from Santa Cruz, he was born in Fazenda da Sta. Cruz. So funny, two people with origins in the same tiny, remote municipality in Azores, Portugal met eachother at single portuguese dance in a one-time rented hall...and they married and had me :D
@lusoguyJesuspower Don't feel alone. All my Grandparents came from Fajanzinha to California and their children married and here I am, a Pure-Blooded Azorean living a California life. Weird huh?
@erod1944 Cool! Thats cute, jsut bcz it has the "inha" haha. Yea it guess its kinna odd, but hey...i wud have never been part of the 2010 olympics if my avos didnt immigrate to Vancouver :) interesting how God works in mysterious ways!
Can you provide a little information on the island? When was it discovered and by whom? I have heard that St. Brendan, an Irish monk and explorer, left some settlers there on one of his voyages of discovery in the 6th century

i´m from flores more precisely lajes so i´m used to this island but in this video i can see my hometown in a way that i had never seen,it´s a really beautiful island and i should consider myself lucky to live in it..
altough i gotta say i haven´t been in some places that you showed on the video but this summer i´ll go to all of them
by the way i know leandro he´s my classmate we´re both on 10 grade
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I love Flores, and I think it's one of the most beautiful places I've ever been, and I've traveled a great deal. I am so glad that my feeling came across in the pictures. Please say hi to Leandro and his parents for me.
Flores island's name in Indonesia was given by the portuguese that colonized the island until the 18th century. They also colonized Timor island near Flores. In Azores Portuguese is spoken just like in all Portugal.
Marylee--I was at this same place a year ago. I had watched your video prior to my residency. When I got back to the U.S., I could see that the first picture was from the same house where I had stayed as a resident. I hope to go back. I yearn for those long views of Lajes and the ocean beyond. Thanks for sharing a beautiful video.
I hope she has a chance to go back there for a visit and that you can go with here. I loved June and July because all the hydrangeas are in bloom on the road to Faja Grande.
I miss you too. I didn't write to you because my purse was stolen and I lost your address, including your email address. I am so glad you watched the video and liked it. I have a longer one that I made and it has pictures of all of you. I will make a copy of it and send it to you soon by mail. I miss you too.
My Grandmothers family is from Flores and my Grandfathers from Pico! Thanks!
