Its sad when folks like YOU take offense to another band thats trying expand their musical repertoire.
LSU is just a completely different style band. FAMU is a great program, but in no way would any SEC elite feel embarrassed beside FAMU. Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Arkansas, and LSU could all meet up with FAMU and hold their own with the marching 100, and in many cases would outdo the Marching 100 in many regards, particularly intonation, articulation, and blend/balance issues. That's taking nothing away from the phenomenal program FAMU has. It's just a bit different.
Now FAMU should be given the respect they deserve. They are a legendary group, they play very well and bring a lot of energy, and they are a very deserving winner of the Sudler Trophy.
Their style is just a bit different from LSU and the other elite SEC programs. Not better, not worse, just different. And unlike some other programs, they don't feel a need to talk smack.
BUT THEY SHOULD THEY TRY TO DABBLE IN BOTH WORLDs they should pick a side caus they play the same songs as all the other swac bands but they try to put a sec twist on it there gud but they dnt hav my respect

I'm actually a cal berkeley fan but first of all thanks for the response and second I think that it is cool that the band succeeds in playing a song that is completely opposite to their style and still have it sound so good. Plus, I think that tiger stadium is one of the coolest in college football (not nearly as scenic or beautiful as Memorial Stadium though).
yeah they just started playing that last season... i think they played it a little bit in 06, but not every game. It really became a "thing" after the florida game when they played it after every big play. I have never seen a student section so pumped up like they were during the florida game. The students really like that song

LSU is just a completely different style band. FAMU is a great program, but in no way would any SEC elite feel embarrassed beside FAMU. Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Arkansas, and LSU could all meet up with FAMU and hold their own with the marching 100, and in many cases would outdo the Marching 100 in many regards, particularly intonation, articulation, and blend/balance issues. That's taking nothing away from the phenomenal program FAMU has. It's just a bit different.

Now FAMU should be given the respect they deserve. They are a legendary group, they play very well and bring a lot of energy, and they are a very deserving winner of the Sudler Trophy.
Their style is just a bit different from LSU and the other elite SEC programs. Not better, not worse, just different. And unlike some other programs, they don't feel a need to talk smack.

first I must say I have marched years in a corps style band and years in a traditional style band. I love them both and while I enjoy corps style a little more HBCU bands do deserve credit. Just as you think whomever is talking about corps style bands is ignorant i too believe you are ignorant in your knowledge of traditional style bands. Its not always bad though. You can learn things. The first decades of marching bands were all "showstyle" (Traditional). to say HBCU bands crap is unacceptable

I'm actually a cal berkeley fan but first of all thanks for the response and second I think that it is cool that the band succeeds in playing a song that is completely opposite to their style and still have it sound so good. Plus, I think that tiger stadium is one of the coolest in college football (not nearly as scenic or beautiful as Memorial Stadium though).

yeah they just started playing that last season... i think they played it a little bit in 06, but not every game. It really became a "thing" after the florida game when they played it after every big play. I have never seen a student section so pumped up like they were during the florida game. The students really like that song
