This pisses me off. The SO CALLED Humane society wouldnt help a bleeding dog in the shelter for weeks the dogs mouth was bleeding and he was crying in that stinky cage. ANd the managers never helped and got mad at me for telling them over and over for 6 hours and I returned every week and the same dog was crying and still bleeding from the mouth while nawing on the iron bars from pain, worry or sadness or somthing serious and they did not even give him a rubber bone.

Oprah has two goldens and a cocker spaniel I believe but I don't know if the cocker spaniel is Sadie or is a different dog. Her dog Sophie passed away shortly after her 2 year old golden retriever choked on a ball. :(

So she has 3 or 4 dogs.

She may have more or less by now but I haven't watched the show in a year or more so I only know what is on the news lol

This just goes to show that there ARE Purebred dogs in shelters everywhere and there ARE puppies in shelters. I see this ALL The time. People just neglect to look, they don't care if they are paying less and saving a dog. They just want the friggen papers on the Purebred dog so they have "proof" and they can "show it off". @Kitsunegirl11 A lot of my friends have snobby mothers who buy dogs from breeders. I wish they would understand that shelter dogs are just as good as any other dog. "EWWWWW SHELTER DOGS THEY DONT HAVE PAAAPERSSS" I am going to adopt a dog from a woman who rescued it from abusive owners very soon, it is a pit bull mix, most likely adopted by the original owners for dog fighting.

Other than that every single animal I get will be adopted. Shelter dogs are amazing, they just have ,much more of a perspective on life because of what they have been through. @TheCisnne and that's your choice. Sure, reputable breeders make what breeds we have today, but most breeders OVER BREED their animals and that's how they wind up in shelters in the end. Of course you wouldn't consider going to a shelter. Why should it matter if you get a purebred over a mixed breed? I happily enjoy my mixed breeds, and they look perfect in my eyes. I bet you didn't try to find a rescue that carries the breed you wanted. Sorry, we just care a lot about saving animals.

Yes, that is true. I was at the Jean Dodds Seminar on Saturday when they announced that Ivan died from Parvo. Sadie was still fighting for her life.

Hopefully this will open some eyes to the dangers of Parvo. Just because a puppy has been vaccinated does not mean that it has Immunity yet. PARVO is Hightly contagious and can live in the soil for up to 3 years! Puppies should NOT be in puplic places were other animals could have been until they have received their final vaccination.

I have three children who are college students; a 16 year old son and an 11 month of grandson; my husband and I are away from the house at least twelve hours a day; I want a yorkie, but need to make sure that I can commit to giving the puppy the love and attention it require; I know if I get him all of the responsibility will be mine, any suggestions~

I have a Yorkie that I got about a year ago. She is absolutely wonderful but yes, she does require ALOT of attention. Yorkie's are just like babies. I have to take mine with me as much as I can or she will cry and whine the whole time I'm gone. They are also very hard to potty train. It took me about a year and she still pees inside when she gets really excited. If you are gone at least 12 hours a day I suggest a cat. Not as cute but you don't want to leave a dog alone that long everyday.

Almost all purebreds will have genetic and/or degenerative health problems due to over breeding. A purebred is essentially an inbred. Hundreds of trysts of "grandparents" mating with "grandchildren" to preserve a pedigree. It's sickening.

I found a purebred Pomeranian via a shelter. Purebreds, even puppies, are dumped all the time. But yes, most shelter dogs are mutts and are just as loveable as any purebred!

what are the chances of finding 4 purebred beautiful cocker spaniel puppies in a dog shelter? Not likely. I appreciate the effort to send a message (adopt/rather than buy from a breeder), but I'm not buying it. Nobody would dump a litter of pups like that at a shelter. Unless someone dumped an older pregnant cocker spaniel I suppose. I think it sends the wrong message generally. The dogs that really need homes and are mostly at shelters are older.

I help out sometimes at shelter and dog pound. With people losing homes you would be shocked at the purebreds coming in. Your right a lot of pregnant females are dropped off. People losing homes are moving into apt. and trailers some will only allow one animal. We have some beautifull purebreds and mutts. Puppies, middleage and a lot of senior animals. Overpopulation is big problem.
