You dont have to go to all this trouble to grow a few veggies , honestly! if you are gonna buy and lay blocks , bring in "enriched topsoil from local farm land", etc isn't it easier and possibly "greener" to just enrich the soil you have? you could just dig your soil over the once and put that compost on your soil in the autmn and plant in the spring . You need not dig in subsequent years , just cover your ground with some well rotted compost . Its what I do an it works.
