Put Dark At Dawn next to Sound Storm, Eagleheart next to Manimal, Pharaoh next to Ballistic, Helstar next to Crescent Shield, Onward next to Angel of Eden, ... I can keep going with this. Point is, there's a lot more than just Sonata Arctica and DragonForce and everything in between.
@istandidol There's influences but not like all bands are one and the same. He may have heard 20 power metal bands which share some characteristics but the genre has about 4400 registered bands and I know there are but a few bands which share many obvious elements.

Dragonforce have been a massive help during my depression days a few years back, just used to listen to the lyrics , allways used to make me smile and not have worry about the future :)

Eh not so much my taste in power metal. This style has a little too much emphasis on the keyboards for me and not enough oomph in the guitars. I find Gamma Ray's Somewhere out in Space to have the perfect blend of keyboards and heavy riffs.
In my opinion Sabaton would be the number one :). But it still annoys me when some kid comes and is like : "WTF wher is saibaton u frekin noob!" even though its not my video.
fair enough, n tht annoys me too, all have different preferences of faviourite bands etc, just cause the person hasn't chosen a band they like, doesn't mean tht one shall have almost a strop about it. And i do like Sabaton and saw them live and they were awesome, just wouldn't be one of my top favourites :p
I have one question... Which is the real fantasy world? On one hand we have power metal which speaks of triumphing over one's enemies and believing in oneself no matter what. On the other we have rap and punk shit which speak of partying and drinking and shooting people like a pussy to pretend their problems don't exist and to escape them instead of facing them head on. Which philosophy would you rather follow?
I don't know what the limits are, but it definitely covers Dragonforce vs. Other power metal. Out of all the Dragonforce I've listened to, not one song has contained a single good novel original idea. Not saying other power metal bands aren't guilty of the common power metal negative tropes (repetitiveness, corny lyrics) but DF just takes it to a whole 'nother level of excess. Maybe I was a little harsh in saying "horribly inadequate", but DF really is on the low tier of power metal bands.

it's diferent compare the best play band in live and the best performanca live, the band who play in live like studio is a good band, but if you get a great performance, they are the best band, Like Iron, Kamelot, Nightwish, slayer, synfony x, archenemy,, angra, etc etc etc
Not quite. Those like Rhapsody, with a huge orchestra behind them, might sound live a bit worse if they are not headlining or whatever or if they don't have their usual set up but bands like Firewind, Kiuas, Sabaton, ... all do rather well actually. Some do better than others of course but it's not really true what you are saying.
@Nergal131 Rhapsody is in fact one of the best livebands i have ever seen. Check out their livedvd. But yeah, bands like that normaly have it tougher to play live.
Yeah, but that's only when they are actually headlining or have their orchestra with them. Otherwise, it would be just backtracking and it wouldn't really sound coherent. But yeah, Dawn of Victory and Holy Thunderforce live from that DVD is insane.
But I meant, bands like Rhapsody who require a lot of set up generally do worse than bands who don't. Simple bands like Cage or Jag Panzer don't even have keyboards so there's hardly anything to mess up other than the sound setup of the venue itself

I understand and its true. Smaller bands may have the time / other necearly things to make such things in studio but when live, they dont have the money to hire orchestras and other things so its either backtracking or sounding bad.

Eh not so much my taste in power metal. This style has a little too much emphasis on the keyboards for me and not enough oomph in the guitars. I find Gamma Ray's Somewhere out in Space to have the perfect blend of keyboards and heavy riffs.

Best compilation I've seen yet. I love power metal but a lot of bands come up short of that epic impulse sound, but every band here has it!

fair enough, n tht annoys me too, all have different preferences of faviourite bands etc, just cause the person hasn't chosen a band they like, doesn't mean tht one shall have almost a strop about it. And i do like Sabaton and saw them live and they were awesome, just wouldn't be one of my top favourites :p

I have one question... Which is the real fantasy world? On one hand we have power metal which speaks of triumphing over one's enemies and believing in oneself no matter what. On the other we have rap and punk shit which speak of partying and drinking and shooting people like a pussy to pretend their problems don't exist and to escape them instead of facing them head on. Which philosophy would you rather follow?

I don't know what the limits are, but it definitely covers Dragonforce vs. Other power metal. Out of all the Dragonforce I've listened to, not one song has contained a single good novel original idea. Not saying other power metal bands aren't guilty of the common power metal negative tropes (repetitiveness, corny lyrics) but DF just takes it to a whole 'nother level of excess. Maybe I was a little harsh in saying "horribly inadequate", but DF really is on the low tier of power metal bands.

it's diferent compare the best play band in live and the best performanca live, the band who play in live like studio is a good band, but if you get a great performance, they are the best band, Like Iron, Kamelot, Nightwish, slayer, synfony x, archenemy,, angra, etc etc etc

Not quite. Those like Rhapsody, with a huge orchestra behind them, might sound live a bit worse if they are not headlining or whatever or if they don't have their usual set up but bands like Firewind, Kiuas, Sabaton, ... all do rather well actually. Some do better than others of course but it's not really true what you are saying.

@Nergal131 Rhapsody is in fact one of the best livebands i have ever seen. Check out their livedvd. But yeah, bands like that normaly have it tougher to play live.

Yeah, but that's only when they are actually headlining or have their orchestra with them. Otherwise, it would be just backtracking and it wouldn't really sound coherent. But yeah, Dawn of Victory and Holy Thunderforce live from that DVD is insane.
But I meant, bands like Rhapsody who require a lot of set up generally do worse than bands who don't. Simple bands like Cage or Jag Panzer don't even have keyboards so there's hardly anything to mess up other than the sound setup of the venue itself

I understand and its true. Smaller bands may have the time / other necearly things to make such things in studio but when live, they dont have the money to hire orchestras and other things so its either backtracking or sounding bad.
