2003-2005 was a dead spot in ice dancing IMO, and that resulted in the very weak Olympic podium in Torino. N/K, G/G, B/A, D/L, D/S - never found anything in any of these teams that would attract or impress me. Delobel/Schoenfelder were the best out there, but they kept being undermarked. I literally stopped following ice dancing at some point then, it was so extremely uninteresting. Until Drobiazko/Vanagas returned and blew my mind. And then, in 2007, ice dancing started to regenerate again.
The Russians almost always have the best choreography, but I can't understand why they go over the top with outlandish costumes. It's the human bodies in motion on ice that are the beauty of the sport, not garish outfits.
Having said that, the Russians, with their mastery of classical ballet technique, have produced many great ice skaters and dance teams. As much as I admire the technical skill of the Chinese skaters, for example, they never have the aristocratic movements of the Russians.
I enjoyed this program, but the tassles placed you know where were too risque. She could have covered it up a bit more. Can you imagine Michelle Kwan or Pasha Grischuk skating their programs to "Feeling Begins" with tassles?
I liked the 1st part of the program, but after the music's acceleration they were 2 slow, they didn't follow the rythm of the music, they follow a rythm, but the slow 1, supposed to be an artistically unmatching rythm. But it was just a way to hide their uncapacity to follow the music ! And it was too classic as well, it would have been ok had they really were beautifull, but in this area Navka & Kostomarov were way better. Anissina & Peizeirat would have done great on that music.
"The Feeling Begins" **is** great music: the first cut on Peter Gabriel's brilliant soundtrack to "The Last Temptation of Christ." But Grishuk & Platov, Kwan, Yagudin, van der Perren, Baiul, Lysacek and so many others have used it in the last decade I'm sure I'm not the only one who is weary of it. JMO
Then, the only thing I can tell you is that after 20 years you haven't learnt a lot about skating because they didn't deserve more than 95 points and the fifth place overall.
They actually deserved their bronze medal, they fought through the OD and had this magnificent FD look at the difficult lifts they did compared to other teams, it was obvious that many other teams had deductions for falls but Grushina and Goncharov maintained their focus.
Are you sure you have seen competitive high level skating during this period lol) because even if I can understand your love ofr this pair and this program, there are simply many other skaters who outpassed them by millions miles. To name only a few : Klimova-Pnomarenko, Grishuk-Platov, Uzova-Zhuli, Anissina-Peiseirat...
This was such a great program they had difficult lifts which showed great flexibility, I hoped denkova and staviski would medal too but unfortunately they had aot of mistakes and the french didnt compare much to ukraine by a few points, but grushina/goncharov did their best so im sure they deserve the medal.
Yes, they had difficult lifts but that's it. The rest of the program was sloppy and very very slow. Their step sequences are ridiculous, they berely can move on them and he has serious problems to complete the rotations on the last lift. I think they were uninspired, there is no risk compared to Del/Scho or Den/Stav and they don't give anything to their performance neither artistically nor choreographically.
This FP is so slow and un inspired! It just bugs me so much that this managed to medal ahead of Delshoes, and Denstavs! They should have been beaten by 5 points (at least) on the Free- very annoying

The costumes in the dance are always much more sexy than in the other competitions, and are very often revealing.

@ferency98 Pasha Grishuk yes I can. She once skated in a dog collar. Michelle however,No I can't see it.

A team has already "done great" on that music... Remember 1997 world championship ? Grishuk/Platov did an extraordinary and creative programm !

This comment has received too many negative votes show
They should have received 20 points of deductions for the boob tassels alone.

Following this logic, a lot of ice-dance teams should have received a lot of deductions for their costumes...
