yea, at the time i didnt like him and posted that comment, but this guy def has some chops and i def dig his style now...

that being said, i didnt think this solo was all that great either, yea hes got mad chops, but i like to hear more of a simple groove developing into more complicated groove and filling around the whole thing.

showing off is good n all, but if it dont got that "hidden" beat behind it, it just sounds like a bunch of noise to me...

drummers like jojo mayer and carter beauford are my favorites because of their creativeness and uniqueness.

like at :40 he starts this jazz swing fusion groove, but loses the feel after 15 secs by being overly ambitious.

although i've expressed my dislike for this solo, I need to emphasize that i have much respect for this guy, every drummer is different, and this guy has great timing and chops.

so i redact my last statement that i dont like this guy, cause i do, just not this solo.

Get a book or video on the moeller technique. Also you can practice rudiments on pillows. The lack of rebound will improve your speed when you transfer to the set.

I wounder if I'm the only when that notice this. When you get faster without rebound then you to to a set and try to use your quickness, it's hard to control cause it's bouncy.....lol! You gotta also learn to control it.

trust me this is the best way to develop speed. You can buy videos or attend clinics and the pros will tell you the same thing.
