This reminds me of when I was a kid my brother and I were obsessed with the movie the wizard, so we had a competition where we would see how many robot masters we could beat in 30 mins. Back then I was horrible at this game so I only got about 3 stages done, but my brother was a veteran at this game and got 6 or 7 done.

Mega Man is not Mega Man is he can't slide at least... sorry but it is true and Capcom failed hard by removing the slide in Mega Man 9 and 10. I can live without the buster but not without the slide!.

@bubblesishot46853 no, that's a glitch. you're not supposed to be able to move when his music starts, but if you're already sliding from the previous screen, you can continue and jump down to the next screen, saving a few seconds.

@SamusAbe the boss fight is really luck-based. he can jump up and shoot magnets at you, wasting a TON of time.

@Tiki656 So lets suppose that you take the time to start your run over a few times until you get the desired magnet man boss time that you are looking for(him not shooting the three magnets a lot).  Are you saying there are other factors after that will also make it more difficult than starting with top man?

@SamusAbe yeah, but to be honest, I forget what they are. if you really think that starting with magnet man will be faster, go for it, but I'm almost certain it isn't. with top man first, you get rush jet in magnet man, which saves time too, and there are a couple other minor perks in other levels. feel free to do your own experimentation though.

This guy is making HUGE errors during his speed run. Magnet should be first all the time. 5 min faster completion has been proven on video. He also didn't do the Gemini glitch during the ghost sections. That would have easily saved him a good half a minute to a full minute.

you, my friend, were watching the TAS. in order for magnet man to be consistently faster, you have to manipulate luck a LOT. the gemini man zip glitches are extremely difficult to do without tool assistance. so yeah... this is the fastest human time on video, and top man is fastest first in a human run.

Starting with Magnetman and still completes the game 5min faster then this run that you said was impossible.

And don't come with some lameass excuse that he uses a turbo-controller cause that dosn't change the fact that MagnetMan actually Is the fastest way since he probably have tried all the possible ways and ended up with this one as the fastest. He would have started with topman if it was the fastest way. But obviously it's not.

yeah man, that's a TAS. that stands for tool-assisted speed run -- he uses extremely slow motion, savestates, and other emulator tricks to create a "perfect" run of the game. that's why magnet man is faster for that run. if I were to start with magnet man, I'd have to get perfect luck on his level and pull off some nigh-impossible tricks in other levels. either way, the new TAS coming out for this game is going to start with top man, I think.
