I'm trying to figure out what the point is of the WRT54g mods. Everything I've read/seen points to mainly increased signal. Why not just get an 802.11n router? Also, what exactly can you do with the OSS available for the WRT54g? Thanks.
I just flashed my WRT54G V6.0 to DD-WRT, and it appears stock power is at 71mw. I would recommend a cooling fan at anything above that, as mosher said.
What I'm curious is what chip and/or components generate the heat from an increase in power?
I'm curious because I would like to use two smaller 5v fans. I'm talking maybe 40mm fans, possibly smaller
I will make a video showing you how to install the fan in the case very easy takes about 4-5mins if your solder gun is already hot lol...I using DD-WRT v24sp1 with custom mods...lol sweet! install DD-WRT on it and make it better! =
Hey, it seems you have done a very nice job overclocking that nice Linksys router. I have the same model and I wondered if you could please do a short tutorial of "How to install a fan", or could you in any way just tell me where to solder the fan power leads. Thanks in advance.
solder to + and - where the power is plugged into the router under the board. Really kinda simple...Add a Toggle Switch for On/Off options or solder the - wire of the fan to the DMZ LED so you can turn the fan on and off using the routers software...
took some tape and hooked the + wire on the fan hooked it to the + post on the router and same with the -. So when the router is pluged up it comes on. Works really good i did a test the other day and the router got super hot without the fan......and the fan is held with the screw it came with.
to keep the router from overheating. Overclocking from 200 - 300 and set xmit power to max so it plays a part.. And i use a program Network monitor for that
its hacked but im asking what are you using to see the wireless single radiaus? i dont have that option all i can find is if somebody connects to my router it can see if they have good or bad signal but im asking about the image showing the radiaus on the screen.
