I just transfered to fingers a couple weeks ago. It's really not hard to transfer, and it's actually easier, believe it or not. Make sure to use the tip of your fingers to pick, don't pluck. I guess.. look at your fret hand and find the callouses, you only use those areas to pick with on your picking hand.

Picks are good sometimes of course, they have a completely different sound which is useful.

Many great bass players use a pick, Billy Gould from Faith No More does, Shavo from System does, so don't sweat it. I prefer using fingers though.

Also - why in gods holy name would you get a bass wityh more octaves then a guitar? really now? Six is pushing it but it is good cause u can have BEADGB which means you are an octave lower and 2 ocataves lower. having twelve strings your octaves would eventually meet up with the guitar - pointless. because you need a rythm guitar anyways. oh. yeah. you just got owned you guys on the third page haha:P

i paoly guitar and bass. they are very contradictory. they are both different. its ahrd t play bass because on most songs you need your fingers covering all strings, but you still need agile fingers. and guitar you need to keep your fingers arcxed and for me personally the notes are confusing. been polaying guitar 4 years bass suix months, and honestly, i like bass. its unique. and yo cant play a song without it because yoiu need the rythm and tempo. so stop arguing. its driving me crazy!!!!
