Oh my god. Okay. I just watched Forrest Gump and did not shed a tear in like, three hours. In seven minutes this make me cry like a baby. Who cares if it's gay or not? It's gorgeous.
Okay, so after watching this (amazing) video of yours, I decided to look for the film and found it somewhere online where I could watch it. An amazing movie, I must say, but there was nothing that suggested it being a gay themed film. Yes, I got a few hints of Friedrich and Albrecht having a close bond, but nothing obvious. Thank you for making this video, for if I had never found it I wouldn't have watched NaPolA. This is a great video, it's as if Friedrich is remenising. Made me cry so hard...
@meganfox769 a boy who joins one of hitler´s elite sporting schools so he can get the chance to become a famous boxer. He is quickly disillusioned. The story centres around his friendship with another boy whose father is a high-up nazi official but who himself hates everything to do with nazism. wonderful film.
@dishwalla777 it's "Napola" which is a shortform of "National Political Institutes of Education". You really should watch the movie, it's really good and has good actors.
We saw this movie in our germany class, really sad. Me and another girl in my class tought they were hiding that they loved each other, and we both wanted Fredrich to jump into the water and save Albrecht, but he didn't :(
@OrgasmicTantrum93 the film is called NaPoIA.. its stated at the end of the video clip.. i wonder whether this film is a gay-themed film...after reading the comments here..
Its a shame that everytime I watch videos like that (reffer. to Nazis etc) I feel ashamed for my own country. I build up a vast amount of disgust towards my own nation.
@TeppAwesome You don't have have to feel a shame for what some people did. It's not your fault and it will never be. You can only feel sorry about it and accepted this darkest part of your history. It's like every country have is darkest part. You can't change what has been done but you can change the future and that's important because we only go forward.
Don't worry about it and smile while you can, life isn't always fair. Cherish every moment you can while you can :)
It is senseless. What happened, happened. History is just to teach us a lesson that we should never forget. As far as I know, Germans mastered their lesson quite well - and that's fine.
@TeppAwesome Every country has it's dark history. So don't feel ashamed. It's history, and we should learn from it,otherwise we're just doomed to repeat it.
@TeppAwesome We can all say the same things about bad things our nations have done. No nation is innocent. Just live your life as a good person. If enough people do that, good things can come of it. We are only on the earth a short time. Do the best you can in the time you have. Live life.
Yeah, the movie's topic is mainly about how the young men struggled with the hard ideological training on the nazi elite schools (german short term is Napola). For Friedrich, a passionate poor boxer it's the only chance to get a higher education and Albrecht was send there by his father, an important nazi officer, although Albrecht has a lot of doubts against the nazi ideology. I think their relationship wasn't really gay, (maybe subtext Albrecht) but very deep and intense, like brothers. Tragic
@Joshie102 yes, its a very metaphoric ending. I think Albrecht somehow knew that he couldnt resist the will of his father and the Napola physical and mental
@gamblerssurf - It is a magnificient movie, but it is not gay themed really. It could be that there are some gay sub themes going on, but I would not classify it as gay. Still, it is amazing.
They didn't work for Hilter. They were students at a school for the future leaders of the third Reich, but Albrecht disagreed with Nazi doctrine and wrote essays against the war, resulting in him being sent by his Nazi Elite father to Hell on Earth at that point in time (the Eastern Front).
i totally loved this movie. There seemed to be some sexual tension, but unfortunately nothing ever happened between the two of them. The movie was awesome nonetheless.
@JiminPalmSprings No, because it's not a gay movie. :) I talked to someone who saw the movie and they said there was nothing physically gay about it. :)
@JiminPalmSprings Love is not only "kiss and physically intimate".Expecially if you are talking about soldiers in nazi period.Somethimes love can exist more strong also withouth kiss and physically intimate.
Well , Gay love in Nazi Germany was equal to death, terrible times for anyone who was diferent from what The Nazis wanted , millions of Jews , Gays gypsys, intelectuals, slavics, you name it, were sent to death Camps. It was a time of Pure evil.
So sad.. :(
