I left for Paris Island South Carolina Marine Corps recruit training Depot in 2007
and like the prodical Son I wandered into darkness and strayed from the Lord, I'm on my way back. Thanks to Calvary/God's forgiveness there is still room for me
Oh how we miss George! He was inspiration to us all. Such a blessing and a beautiful bass voice. No one sang like he did. And the way he was so real when he sang it was a beautiful ting between him and God, and you cold tell it. .....Rebecca
Beautiful song and beautiful witness, my story is similar. Hovie Lister and the Statesmen Quartet recorded the same song on their, "Even So, Come" album that I actually like better!
Both songs bring tears to my eyes as how ANYONE can be redeemed and their sins covered with Jesus Holy blood, and how GOOD and FORGIVING our LIVING GOD is!
@jaycee628 I will have to research the Statesmen's version; I don't see how it could be any better that this! I will, however, keep an open mind! It could be just a preference issue, because I feel the same way about the Cathedral's version, but then again, I have just about worn this cd out in my truck! I will be on the lookout for the 'Even So, Come' cd. Thanks
This song means sooo much to me..when I was a little kid my father used to drink and when he'd come home drunk I was scared and would hide...I was the youngest child and my mama had prayed for years for him to quit drinking and she had prayed that if she could get me thru high school and he hadnt quit drinking she was going to leave..2 weeks before I graduated my daddy quit drinking and he's been an elder in the church for over 20 yrs now...so this song means soo much to my family
Beautiful Song...How True it is in our lives...Jesus saves sinners if we but-put our faith in HIM and receive h Him as our Saviour. HE is just a prayer away.!! :-)
Thia song could have beeen wriiten of my Dad's life.after getting saved he stopped by a bar to tell his friendswho told him to "have a drink with them" and dad told them he had taken a drink of "living water". and thanks to Calvary he wouold not be coming there any more!
I don't know you personally-but I was "touched" by your comment .!! This song is for all Born Again Christians....your dad....received the "Living Water" and will Never thirst again...(woman at the well)....Thank God another soul was saved. :--))
God gave you a wonderful deep voice, dear George Younce, and I love it! You are in heaven now,I know, with Jesus, and so we all will be one day, after we have accepted Him as our savior and been forgiven by His grace, "earned" for us on Calvary. Thanks for posting!
George has gone "HOME" and the Angels rejoiced.. This song, pretty much sums up my life, I met the Cathedrals many years at my church, this song still brings tears to my eyes. Thank You
George Younce and Glen Payne will live forever thanks to these great videos. This song toched me and is so true. I think we have been places and done things, But thanks to Calvary we don't ever have to go there again. Thank you whomever is responsible for posting this video. God Bless you!
does anyone know who sings the song, it says "Lord Let Me Be A Blessing To Someone Today" i would really love to hear it and know who sings it .. i thought it was sung by the catherdrals but i cant find it anywhere and im nto sure of the correct name of the song. thanks :0) and many blessings!
WHAT A SONG!!! The words say so very much. I never hear George sing this that I don't thank the Lord for the change he made in me. Thanks to Calvary, I don't do those things anymore. I DON'T LIVE THERE ANYMORE!! Thank you Lord for all that you have done in my life.
I, too, was lost in trespasses and sins, but God in his mercy, reached down from that cross and saved me. I, too, went to those places, and I, too, don't live there anymore!
Thanks Hoover4000 for posting all these heavenly songs. I love all these songs, the cathedral group esp. when bro. Payne and younce sing together Our church in Philippines love listening to them.
Wow!! What a voice George Younce had. A lot of people think J.D. Sumner had the best bass voice, but George had it all. His sense of humor was wonderful also. We are losing so many of our singers but we will see them again in heaven.
hey hoover4000, i just wanted to let you know that all of these videos that you post have been a huge blessing to me especially this past week and i pray that God blesses you for it, keep posting, you have a tremendous ministry here
I love this song. It's so touching. You can see that they really meant what they were singing. The Cathedrals are/were the best quartet in southern gospel.
"Thus far did I come laden with my sin, Nor could aught ease the grief that I was in, Till I came hither. What a place is this! Must here be the beginning of my bliss !Must here the burden fall from off my back!Must here the strings that bound it to me crack! Blest cross! blest sepulcher! blest rather be The Man that there was put to shame for me!"
God bless Bill Gaither for the vision to get all these great saints of God on CD and DVD before they passed on to Glory. The Cathedrals were one of a kind.
What a great song, and a great testimony. I miss George and Glen. Thank God for a man like BilL Gaither who made sure we got these treasures on video and CD before they went to Glory.
I thank God for these kind of songs and singers. It makes me want to get saved all over again. How many homes now need a "brand new daddy". Only Jesus can do it and oh how we need it.
Thank God for the older songs like this one. I feel that I am selfish but the praise and worship music of today inspires neither in me. When I hear a great song like this one about how Jesus can change a man's life so totally and how He restores broken lives and broken homes, I feel so blessed and my spirit worships God. I guess I'm a little strange or just old fashioned.
You know, when you compare the depth of this with the light and fluffy stuff sung in so many churches these days, it shows how far we have drifted as a people.
Time was we used to sing about Jesus and His saving grace but these days the focus is on our blessings and power.
A beautiful son - thank you so much for uploading it!
This is a wonderful song. You said that George had a drinking problem "back in the day." Do you have any biographical or testimonial information where George talked about his deliverance for alcohol?
