Good work so far, you should probably try and create your bullets in 3D Max, since you have more control over the bump/specular/shaddow maps, that would add a bit more realism, also you should try and steady the footage up in AE, but nonetheless good work.

Also a run through Autodesk Combustion would make the colour look a whole lot better.

Just a little FYI. Before you do shots with fake guns, be sure to change the orange tip to a black one. Just put some black duct tape or electric tape over it. It just adds realism.

In my opinion, the second effect was best, just weather the gun with some paint and it will look better.

And try to get a way to make steadier camera movement, perhaps having a lampfoot with wheels or something similar, the shakyness made it look less good.

Otherwise a good start for a movies effects.
