The intro on this version is just beautiful. However, I can see why Nigel Gray made the band change its rythm section when he took them into the studio. The drum and bass groove here is ok but it doesnt fit the song as well as the more straight driving feel on the later recordings

i have this CD...! and i have to say it sounded awesome the first time i heard the John Peel session while browsing through the record store. this version somehow beats the radio version simply because of its fresh sound. still, loved it!

Were it not for the 12" version, this would be the greatest version of "TFPOY" out there. The intro here, though, is tremendous. This is one of the most beautiful songs of the 1980s.

Totally agree. The intro to TFPOY on the vinyl versions is fantastic anyway but this live sound makes it something really special.
