Someone is going around flagging bellydance videos. So far, almost all of Jillina's and some of Aziza's have been flagged. They should be flagging hip hop videos instead.
This dance is primarily a social dance and everyone does it men, women, youn and old. People learn how to dance when they are kids by watching their mothers fathers, aunts and uncles. Its about sharing joy, and celebration. For god's sake, what you see on MTV is 10 times worse, not to mention the lyrics of most American songs today!
The last person who I confronted about making comments like that turned out to be a man. He shut up when I told him that he must be threatened by women who are secure in their sensuality.
too sensual? well let me inform you that when we are taught to dance like that we aren't taught that it's "sensual." It's taught as part of our culture and heritage. We dance to have fun and too carry on our cultural tradition, not to be sensual.
