I kinda know what ya mean. I'm portuguese and they are truely Hispanic. Hispanics are Spanish Portuguese and Spanish speaking Latin Americans. It's easier to understand when you learn the history. The only reason you don't see more recodnition for Portuguese Hispanics is because of the ignorant government. But ya on my bus we are mainly Portuguese,brazilians,and puerto Ricans. I am friends with of them but some don't see me as Hispanic just because I know how to talk and don't get buzz cuts.

not really latino is the latin word for latin so obviously italians are latino or latin. latin started in latium was in central italy. so how italians aren't latin i don't know. and how are portuguese and italians hispanics. when they aren't spanish or are from spain. the term hispanic comes from the latin word the romans gave to spain hispania. so hispanics are people from spain or people whose ancestry is spanish. people use these terms in correctly because of the government.

instead of blaming "ghetto hispanics" for the stereotypes that you feel you have been a victim of, propose solutions so that these "ghetto" and "urban" hispanics, as you labeled them, can be educated and have the same type of education that you have. realize that many of these hispanics in these "ghetto" and "urban" settings that you mention did not (and do not) have the same opportunities that you had. also, baggy clothes does not indicate urban or lack of an education - i'm hispanic too.

Exactly! I am mixed and sometimes people notice I am Hispanic and sometimes they think I am just white. So I do hear people slur racial ignorance right in front of me sometimes and to be honest most were educated and had money. So I agree education or money has little to do with it.
