  • Smokin Joe is one hell'ova rhythm player man!!!

Obviously he can tear it up doing the lead work, but he's also incredible on the rhythm.

Bnois King and Smokin' Joe Kubek, 2 badass blues cats

  • Always critics out there. Of course most don't play and if they did not this good. Good video, thanks for posting. I am seeing these guys tonight, your clip convinced me.

  • A little known fact is that Albert King undisputedly one of the greatest blues guitarists of all time used a phase shifter as an integral part of his sound.

Youngbloods here's some wisdom "it's not what effects you choose to use or not to use it's what you put through them that counts".

  • I was at the show and B'nois King and Joe Kubek smoked, simmered and cooked all night long. A great show! Thanks for the clip and the memory brutalblues.

  • they put on a helluva performance! they're playing live in Morgantown, Pa on May 1st. (2010) come see 'em and you might be pleasantly surprised!

  • That's some good stuff.... Gotsta be lovin the blues....

  • Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. The video is out of sync and there are two different guitar players trading off so it's kind of hard to tell who's playing what part, but I can assure you, as did barflew, Smokin' Joe does not suck and is a well respected player. He played with Freddie King and was a personal friend and contemporary of SRV. He's the real deal, even though I hate that saying, he is!

  • who he played with and who let him on stage is a different arguement. he is who he is and hes not that good, but hes doing it and im not.

  • See these guys in person and you will change your mind.. B'nois King has a great singing style and as a vocalist alone , he would be an asset to any band.. He also plays great guitar. Smoking Joe is among the best of the Texas blues guitarist, especially when playing slide in open tunings. The sound on this video isn't right, because this band is very tight.

  • Texas Blues, Oak Cliff style. It just sounds better if it originated west of the Trinity River.

  • I'd love to see a ban on chorus pedals for every one playing jazz / blues / rock hybrids. Enough is enough.

  • Yes, i agree. Chorus pedals don't sound right with Blues. Phasers too tend to make the sound corny.

  • Just saw them tonight. Bluesfest, Lansing, Michigan. First time. OMG!!! Everyone has to see these guys. The crowd went nuts. Thanks for airing this. Zud

  • hey joe, take your best shot!!

  • A little out of sync but good to see.

  • In order to get the file small enough to fit on YouTube I guess the process affects the sync. If you know any tricks, I can retry to download it.

  • Come to the 2007 news years bash @ J&J's blues bar in fort worth texas
