I was told to heel strike and how to do it when I was that age, training on a renowned atletics club, in a regions winning team. I was really, really slow at running, even though I felt I should be fast somehow. Now I am 35, and I find myself sprinting against 18y/o talents. When I managed to quit heel striking althogether, my times just came falling down. I found myself setting new goals. Run shops will still tell people to heel strike, a disgrace.
Lots of these kids run with their arms relatively straight compared to adults. I notice that I like to do this, because it makes me feel more comfortable. Once I tried to follow advice and keep my elbows at 90 degrees and I hurt my back. Any thoughts?
